It unironically opens doors for you to have a higher level degree in any field. You're not going straight to the top, but if you're looking for a promotion and you have the papers to back it up you're in a good place.
It especially helps for something vague like PR. Because it isn't a precise science, a higher qualification essentially gives more weight to your hot opinions because you're an authority figure.

A PhD in physics is boring because anybody with a calculator can check your math. A PhD in Bullshitography is great because nobody can easily fact-check you without doing the research you didn't bother to do.

Sciences are useful in industries where you can apply them, not for regular people grocery shopping. Numerical methods, finite elements, analytical geometry etc. all have uses.
