Some content creators (i.e. Bo Burnham, streamers) are starting to actively warn their audience that 1) They are not your friend (often verbatim) and 2) To not fall in love with them. That's responsible behavior if you care about your fans.

Cover's idols, whether through corporate mandate or not, don't do this. Just like Korean Idols, they're expected to keep the fact that they have a boyfriend or not secret, to keep GFE keyfabe up. As far as I know Marine is one of the few to speak on this back specifically, back in February.

Having said this, telling your fans that you love them without proper context will exacerbate it. An idol like Gura doesn't have to stop making ANY kind of content, a simple reminder that she's an entertainer and to not get too attached would likely help many, for minimal effort.

I thought that way for a while since she's never actually said it that much (interestingly enough she never said it in the real ASMR stream despite doing far more affectionate things), but she's had so many perfect opportunities such as the birthday stream that it feels like she's made a point not to. In fact it sometimes feels like because she's avoiding it she doesn't have much of a vocabulary to express appreciation.
