Also wow that i think about it, it very well couldve been already damaged during shipping, the brackets structural integrity compromised if the packing material wasn't tight enough, if the gpu was pre-installed during shipping and the package was positioned up right. Bumps on the road, 3kg of wobbly weight on the socket seems likely to wear out the socket, more so than the life span of the pc just sitting around would do. It probably was just a slow process of something that was already set in motion during shipping.

Thats interesting if that would actually be the case. Sometimes pc issues are so cryptic, that an easy fix like that solving all the issues would be magical. Otherwise you can spend days diagnosing whats wrong, some unstable ram over clock a mobo can't handle when a particular address is called once a week on a very particular operation, some gpu factory overclock that was too optimistic so you have to underclock the gpu to have it stable, driver issues etc. It's a headache, although resolving these issues does add a sense of satisfaction and " i learned something new" type of growth.
But for someone whois bussiness is having the pc running stable and having a healthy state of mind to entertain the audience, it's really not something you should be dealing with.

Didn't the whole GPU shortage get bad enough to the point where manufacturers weren't even able to offer replacements and instead had to just refund the cost of the card? I can sorta see why she put it off for so long, considering the uncertainty of even being able to get a working replacement through RMA, which would could of meant a period of downtime anyways.
