I'm actually kind of in the same boat. The only game that wasn't a visual novel-esque or RPG (albeit really rare for RPGs) game that's made me cry is Yakuza 0.

It's hard to actually think of like another game that has characters that really made me care about them, like would actually feel something if they got killed off.

The advantage of vtuber groups and groups in general is that over time subs will spread towards the lower members over time and the more attention is paid towards the group in general more momentum can be gained through fan content like clips, art and etc. If you look at Prism, thanks to two members catching the eye of the algorithm (Shiki and Luto) the rest of the group is inclining harder as well.
