So, why don't holos own their own home studios for 3D? Is Cover''s """technology""" more complex than an archetypical VR studio or some other fuckeries prevent that? I'm sure some holos would benefit greatly from that.

>> No.7432429

The only difference really will be staff being able to assist, whether that be physically or by running the media production aspect of things.

They live in Japan. They barely have room for beds.

I think it's because Live2D 3D is usually hacked together pretty badly meaning they need to fix shit hands-on at times, as well as the space constraints of Japanese homes.
You can't just create a parkour of stuff to interact with at home if you're in a culture whose tabletop gaming mechanics revolve entirely around people running late or not getting to stay long and having to play in a public location.

A studio for 3d costs several tens of thousands of dollars. The body suit alone is like $15,000. You also need a lot of physical room, which is a premium in Japan. It's far more efficient for the company to continue upgrading their main studios for more capacity and variety of content. Then they can also rent it out to other vtubers.

There's also the matter of staff. i've seen a few 3d lives where a tuber rented a studio but were doing everything alone and it can be really unfortunate if they mess up one little thing.

>> No.7433401

Marine is one of the most successful Holos and she's looking for a new house since her sister decided to live with her. Her current home doesn't have space for another bed.
Personally, I enjoy the fact that it's limited, it makes the 3D streams more special, they're events the Holos get super excited about, and the fans don't want to miss. Something as simple as being able to move around becomes the hypest shit in the world.
Same for stuff like costumes, Rushia recently got a coat, a haircut and a crown. With the amount of money she makes, she could get a lot more and a lot more often, but it's more special this way.

>> No.7433511

>>7432307
A better question is why do you want 3D streams so badly?

>> No.7433580

It's pointless to buy your own studio and force staff to travel to several studios for different 3D streams. It's better that there's specific Cover/Anycolor studios for 3Ds because everyone can meet there instead of having to coordinate moving equipment to and from the main studio, Chuuba A's studio, Chuuba B's studio, and so on.

Some vtubers, like Aki, Nene and Coco are very expressive and can really showcase how they use their body and movement. And we have really creative ones like Ame who can play around with it. Fucking they use vive trackers and sensors any vrchat ERPer would use, they just use more than the standard 2 sensors and 5 trackers that home users use to get it better. The 3d they've showed off does not look anything like motion capture suits.

Cover's iPhone app is really starting to show its age, there are a ton of minor features that other apps used by indie vtubers have, like the ability to actually attach a PNG to their model to move it around. It's pretty embarrassing that they have to put on a static PNG for a hat or glasses that doesn't move when a literally who 10viewer indie can do easily.

The average Japanese room, especially in apartments that most of them live in, with furniture in them, barely would give them enough room to stand in a small square for at home 3d with no ability to move a few feet in any direction. Ame's room was kinda small for her VR stream based on her barriers and that would be bigger than most of the JPs holos already.

>> No.7450703

>>7450655
for all their wealth you'd think they'd move to a nicer apartment instead of a death box.

A lot of the girls live in the big city, a ton in Tokyo too. Upgrading to a bigger size would massively increase rent for the gains, even Coco and co in the nice new apartments are still small ass room. Some could possibly go for a house but unironically trying to get a house in Tokyo as a single female with your job as "vtuber" would probably make this not even worth it (I mean coco could barely even get into her new apartments as it was).

>> No.7450792

>>7450744
no no Im pretty sure a decent apartment that has enough space for 3d doesnt cost that much if I remember how much I've hunted out of curiosity

I've seen people with the same size in the average japanese apartment anyway achieve full 3d motion tracking, unless they're living in internet cafe boxes, they have space anon.

You haven't watched any of their studio 3D since last year, have you?

>>7450533
Attaching stuff is all it's really missing, and it seems like they prefer doing fully rigged accessories. A lot of them have glasses and hats and stuff they can toggle.

>> No.7451157

>>7450792
Full 3d motion tracking isn't the same as being able to do fancy in-home live3d content, though it would work fine for things like ringfit or simple physical stuff.

>>7450827
I have and I can tell you they are not using motion capture suits what so ever, and if they are is really shit (either the tech or the way they are implementing it on the 3d bodies). As someone with a lot of time with FBT in vrchat the stuff I see from cover is only a bit better than a home 3 sensor 5 tracker setup.

Also since both of those were me, fuly rigged accessories do look a ton better, but it sucks ass that it takes then fucking months to add literally anything to their models and a lot of them do use shitty static PNGs for hats or blankets, etc and it looks terrible.

>> No.7451187

>though it would work fine for things like ringfit or simple physical stuff.
thats good enough anon.

>> No.7451281

Coco spoke about this once, she said she wanted to get all the 3d gear at home and asked cover, they seemed ok with it and told her how much it all cost, but it was prohibitively expensive. This was when she was top sc earner too, so I would say the expense is just way too high even if space isn't an issue.

>> No.7451355

>>7451281
either that, or cover doesnt know of the cheaper alternatives that might not work with their software.

>> No.7451401

>>7451281
They don't even need full power 3d gear for home, a set of trackers and sensors is like 1.5k usd, and it'd basically be exactly what Ame has. And they can't even use the excuse that they need special gear for their special software because Ame already showed that you can still do it yourself with normal gear and software.

>> No.7451459

This specifically is why I don't buy that Cover is still using Vive-based 3D in their studio like >>7451157 says. 2view indies can afford that setup and Coco said she can't?
Obviously Ame has shown that they can roll their own home 3D if they want and Cover won't stop them, but I doubt most of the holos are smart enough to do that on their own and Cover won't help if it's not their normal solution.

>> No.7455494

Technically they could easily get any generic 3D tracking hardware off the market and hook it in to their software and boom, done.
They won't because "muh high quality assets, don't want no glitches" purity bullshit.
Glitched out models are half the fun of 3D, it going well is just a bonus. Seeing someones ankle spontaneously break is top comedy.
