Asmongold is THE Wow streamer. The biggest one. The trend-setter. And he basically jumped ship over to FFXIV because Blizzard has been shitting the bed for a while and he got fed up, as did a lot of other wow players (He still plays WoW some, but he's basically spent the majority of his time playing FFXIV).
Naturally, this change brought in a LOT of eyeballs. The idea that Asmongold of all people would basically give up on wow would have been unheard of 3 to 4 years ago. This resulted in FFXIV getting so fucked in terms of the sheer numbers of players that Yoshi P, head dev of FFXIV came out and apologized for not having enough server capacity to accommodate the influx of wow refugees 'cause the servers are busier than they've ever been. FFXIV has already been on an incline since their last xpac was a smashing success.

Miko was not particularly close to Coco compared to other holos, Coco just got along well with everybody and Miko stood out because she's popular to begin with and some big memes happened to come out of it. Miko is just exploding in popularity because of what she's been doing. Kanata obviously benefited considerably, but she had also been inclining pretty hard for months already, so it's not clear exactly how much of it is just her continuing the trend and how much is homeless Tatsunokos. KanaCoco already had a big intersection in their fanbases to begin with, so a lot of those Coco fans were already watching Kanata. Also agree on Haachama, she seems to be one of the closest to Coco and apparently they got even closer during her break. She mentioned the two as her motivation for coming back as soon as she returned and has been interacting with Kanata a lot. I'd be surprised if she doesn't have a lot of Tatsunoko eyes on her. Here is the chart for July 2021, Mel doesn’t seem to have a sizable EOP base compared to others, but as her message volume is low even a handful of EOPs would seems loud.

Lamy and Okayu seem good for low EOP percentage

TTRPG and ASMR seem like something that would be pretty easy to just keep open on another tab (I'm doing that right now). Maybe that has something do with the 'teeth' as new people join others (or the same ones who join) make something else the active tab so the 'viewer' is subtracted?

It's not, those spikes only started to appear when the live views were cut in December.
You can look at the EN graphs pre December and they look normal.
Post December EN graphs all have those spikes. JP streams that probably have a high number of foreign viewers also see those spikes.

ASMR is more likely to get foreign viewers than most other types of streams except singing or certain games.
JPs do have those jags in their graphs but they don't get them as consistently or as pronounced as the ENs.
I haven't been able to find an EN graph post December that doesn't have those jags but JPs will have pretty normal looking graphs sometimes.

Alternative 1: it’s ASMR (and other undermining content or flag in the channel, like Kiara and Mel) triggering it

Alternative 2: it’s somehow related to EN and EOPs and also every ASMR stream and only ASMR streams from the JP members, even the ones with the lowest EOP rate, have a high enough number of EN to trigger it.

If you can’t dismiss alternative 2 even in the presence of ample evidence to the contrary you can hang very tight to it because nothing will convince you otherwise
