General question for other chuubies: what's the protocol for someone that's being inoffensively weird in chat? Like being off-topic but not spamming or saying anything rude etc., do you engage them? Do you just ignore them? Doesn't letting them stay around kill the chat's mood? Should I ask them to stop?

There was a guide posted earlier, but the gist of it was to construct a narrative and that the thumbnail is 90% of getting views. Anything under 10 minutes should work, under two minutes if you're not popular (also lets you upload to twitter). Include just enough context so the clip makes sense in isolation. They're trying to replicate other vtubers instead of other streamers. That's why they're doomed to bomb. A lot of the top english vtubers watch and learned from normal streamers and not other vtubers and it's part of why they're able to stay on top of a lot of trends before they get to the 50 view randos. Go look at their follows and see who some of them watch.

>> No.7789789

Either one will do.
From my limited research both stem from the same place. ie singing and/or talking for long time both put strain on the chords.

However im a retard and cant figure out how to relax my throat when talking.

Sit down and watch a normal large streamer, then watch some 2views and try and spot differences in how they do things, that's where you'll get the best tips.

>>7789811
Problem with large streamers they can bounce off the chat. Meanwhile streaming to the empty room really depends on your improv skill.

Honestly id say maybe even watching standup comedians for ideas might be a good thing as they tend to talk AT the audience more.

Practice.
In general for relaxing you're throat, try to do a yawn or at least fake it. That feeling of a yawn is basically what a relaxed throat is like.
If you do a fake yawn, you can sort force the emulation and then relax it until its natural.

You can still move your throat muscles around in that state to produce different sounds as well, but you want to keep that relaxed feeling there too.

also people tend to get the wrong idea of relaxed, there's "relaxed" where you just fall into habbits, and there's a forced "relax" which is more of a "loosen" than a "relax", but in time it should start to feel the same.

>A lot of the top english vtubers watch and learned from normal streamers and not other vtubers
Please name some because the only ones who fit this description are Vshojo. Hololive and Nijisanji make up the rest of the 'top english vtubers' and they wholly imitate the style of their JP counterparts.

>> No.7790613

which is dumb because its a different format and audience too.

>> No.7791334

>>7790613
That's exactly what I said. Where are these top vtubers who are imitating regular streamers besides vshojo?
They aren't growing because the west somehow has a better handle on streaming. They're growing because they, along with the majority of top western streamers, create lowest common denominator reaction content that appeals to the largest possible audience. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not at all what I'm interested in. I never watched livestreams until vtubing blew up exactly because of this difference in streaming culture. For example: not only the difference in the quality and care that JP vtubers put into their content (It feels more like a planned show than the 'I turn on the camera and shoot the shit' type of stream that westerners typically follow), but also the difference in chat culture, the streamer's engagement with the audience and the boundaries they put into place (feels less like an obnoxious dicksucking contest in chat, besides some superchats), and generally the level of quality and dedication they put towards their stream and 'character'. If my goal was to blow up irrespective of content I make I would follow Ludwig's hours upon hours of advice to a T, but I don't want that. I want to get big through making things I would enjoy watching myself.

Both Gura and Amelia's roommate watched big Twitch content creators. Gura's watched Sykkuno, Timthetatman, michael reeves and a bunch of other OTV members prior to becoming Gura. Amelia was a fan of streamers like Moonmoon. Mori and Cr1tikal are an obvious one and she's admitted it. Imitating the traits from JP that attract weebs is a given but a lot of their humor is no different than larger Twitch streamers.

VShojo fits the bill as well and you'd be surprised how much crossover audience there is between them and even seemingly unrelated streamers that have multiple times their viewership.

I’d rather work with the jacket to give more volume towards the end, and maybe give the spider arms some nice twist and not only “spider arms”. Get a look at King Raid’s Viska or how she’s called and her skins to get an idea.
Also, the main issue I see on your character is that the design doesn’t give away much on your personality, based on the ripped clothes and goggles I’d say he’s and adventurer/inventor. I’d work a bit more on his concept before thinking more of his appearance.

Screaming bee. All of the options will sound modulated if you go too hard on it, though.

If you're open to it it's better to train your voice. It'll sound unnatural at first but the more practice you get the better it'll sound. Don't be afraid to copy vocal mannerisms instead of tone if you're naturally higher pitched and have trouble hitting deeper tones if the character you're set on creating is older/deeper voiced. A lot of high pitched voice actors and actresses can get an older more mature sound from mannerisms alone. (Good male example is Kazuya Nakai. High pitched as shit but gets a ton of older male roles and tough guys, a lot of people even say he has a low voice they associate him so much with it)

It came from the "vTuber Boot Camp" discord group, ran by a transman playing a grandfather, transwoman playing a yandere alien, Bri'ish man playing an army officer, and some silent person on hiatus. No problem with the 'head table', and I guess the idea is nice.

The tag is "supposed" to be used by streamers with less than 500 twitch and/or twitter followers, so that the mods, 'head table', and other streamers of the group can find and promote smaller streamers. And it kind of works. But there's very definitely circlejerking going on - check out which users get promoted, and it's ones that do promoting of others. Fair enough, except it means that they're all just promoting to each other, which doesn't help at all, and just clogs up twitter and twitch feeds.

The other problem is the alphabet soup that's the rest of the discord. Around 2 in 5 of the streamers there are some form of GBT+, and the others have some form of menhera (I include myself in this). I have literally seen people complain in the discord because a picture "looked like a spider, so needs to be tagged with a trigger warning and spoilered", because they have PTSD.

From spiders.

Anyone got good voice acting resources, focused more on the way people talk / enunciate words to give off certain character vibes or accents.
For example, I'm wanting to give a more ethereal voice to a character but doing it on my own is turning it more into a lisping or melodic sound which isn't giving off the vibe I want.

I could just copy other people, but that's putting the cart before the horse.

Copying other people is fine. If they're in media they've trained enough to have good vocal practices so you'll end up learning from them. Try to find characters/people that have the archetype/voice you want and watch them. Then get a book or comic or whatever you read out and try to practice in that voice out loud as you read it. Try to relax and match the energy and cadence at first and the highs and lows of the voice and get involved in the character. Try to avoid shitty thoughts and just enjoy it. You can create a character of your own if you just take a little of someone else's work as inspiration. It won't be a one for one at all but you'll retain some of the energy you want.

Do any of you fags have any actual skills that could hopefully escalate your chances of securing a decent viewer rate, or are you just going to be like all the other aspiring twitch /wvt/ losers, resulting to nothing more than constant shilling attempts and left hoping for some bored viewers to wander into your stream by chance?
They are so many people who are left praying that they just get picked up, and it's pretty sad. A lot of indie vtubers seem pretty delusional, especially the male ones. I hope you're not like that.

Nope. They wouldn't be posting here if they did. /wvt/ and /asp/ies that graduated to it mostly just shuffle around the same 30 viewers or so. Some of them manage to get their own audience, but for the most part its just trash and people watch specifically because "UOOOOOOOOH THEY'RE /here/!"

I have a lot of connections and experience that have been helpful. Its hard to network as a vtuber alone but easy to network doing literally anything else online. If you can draw make some free assets and fanart. If you're a voice actor do some comic meme dubs. If you're can write do some short fanfiction for something popular but overlooked. The more popular you get on that front the more people will reach out to you and help you with your other career goals like streaming. Ask the big ones you end up talking to to promo you a few times and help them with their stuff when they need help.

If you're shit at everything start working to get better. Just relax when you aren't as good as the best of the best and enjoy creating whatever it is you make. Best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. Second best time is today.

A lot of you guys seem to really hate yourselves here. You might make some people really enjoy don't give up. Maybe don't aim to be a 10k viewer person from the start but have fun every step of the way and you'll be happier at least.

From what I hear from the females, a lot of them haven't received views or emails. That tells me that Nijisanji isn't looking at all the applications. Which makes me think there might be some kind of automatic? screening process. Probably the social follower count. Which is very depressing. But it's their money, I guess they want to make the most of it and play safe.

Not necessarily, they're just not going beyond the written part for most. Doesn't mean they're using an automated system, though I wouldn't be surprised.

I doubt they have an automatic system looking at the numbers only. You can't measure it only quantitavely. For example you could have someone who only has a Twitch channel with 5k followers, but every other field would have been left at 0, which would immediately disqualify them which obviously wouldn't be fair.

I think they're looking at the numbers for sure but it also needs to be assessed qualitatively and case-by-case.

While I like your way of thinking, remember the major key part of any vtuber is the person behind the character. Kizuna is just "girl" for fuck's sake. You can take a common theme and give it something that might make it pop but at the same time, relying too heavily on the novelty of your character could put you in a corner in the long run.

Dunno about EN. But record deals and sponsorships and potential for concerts and easy collabs with japanese vtubers would be a big one I'd assume.

Merch is relatively easy to do even as an indie.
Making shirts is piss easy. Getting it correctly QCed and distributed on time can be harder but I could literally do that at home considering indie merchandise numbers (few hundred sales max)
Smaller merch would be even easier.

It's working with other businesses that is important. Niji has clout so companies will go to them directly. Indies don't so at most they'll get small time stuff like stream drops and shit.

Yes. The sad truth is there was never an audition. It was just a PR stunt to generate hype.
Most the girls picked were taken from the indie twitch scene and 1 from a smaller company.
