male anon here. I applied for niji auditions on around the second week of july and I was steadily getting views for a week before they finally stopped. I believe that early on in the month there weren't a lot of applications to sort through, but the volume picked up as soon as the deadline approached. So if anyone of y'all who think they did pretty good on the written part, since I think they filter applicants through that before viewing the vids, it probably is likely that they just had a lot of applications to go through

no way to soundproof, but you can sound treat.

cheapest way to do it is to toss up a mattress or thick blankets on the walls directly in front and behind you. otherwise, you can DIY sound panels using rockwool or Corning 703 insulation panels that are at least 2 inches thick.

don't waste time buying commercial sound foam, most of the cheap ones are not dense enough to absorb sound and at best just diffuse it with their designs. the expensive ones get real expensive, which doesn't matter to most indie vtubers. with your BGM, game music, etc. most of the echoes and reflections should be drowned out anyway.

if by tablet you mean your typical wacom drawing tablet, that.
pen displays that are too cheap tend to be pretty bad. also in general once you get used to a tablet its super convenient imo, far better than a screen because
1. your hands don't get in the way
2. easier access to keyboard for hotkeys
3. you can use your screens like normal instead of having to awkwardly look down at odd angles (its not the same as drawing on paper, and actual drawing is usually done more vertically on a drawing horse like a screen would be)

get a nice medium wacom tablet and you're good forever.

>I feel like the EN girls would fight for gender equality
They aren't going to fight to kill their paycheck from unicorns. You very likely aren't going to be able to make visible contact with them even as a holostar unless the EN managers make serious policy changes compared to the soft rules of the JP side, and Cover is going to segregate you even further. You won't get featured in company projects, you won't make appearances in collaborative events, and it's basically like you don't even work under the same company. Unless a female EN2 member has a Fubuki-tier talent who just doesn't care after the first month you'll be left to dry with whatever you happened to get from the boosted numbers from debuting under the Holostars label, and all of the same restrictions that also come with the label. And while no one can say for certain if that boost will still be as large as the girls' on the English side, it seems unlikely. Meanwhile, strictly in comparison, the males and females (and whatever elses) of Anycolor/Nijisanji are all treated roughly the same. It seems like a far better deal from a potential growth perspective, especially with things outside of streaming itself.

I was talking about a samsung tablet, I currently have a Intuos Draw and was looking forward to upgrading it
I'm currently conflicted since for the display I would be able to use it on my computer and there are hotkeys but the tablet has portability + being able to use it for other things than drawing, that is why I'm having a time deciding which one will be better. For the display I was thinking about Huion Kamvas since cintiq is really expensive

>> No.7929798

>>7929711
in that case yeah just go with a display, imo they're still overrated unless you get the full on cintiq setup where its basically its own table (and even then i prefer a normal drawing tablet) i have no experience with cheaper displays though so if you're buying some crappy chinese knockoff i have no idea how it'll be.

actual tablets are okay, i have an ipad pro its good enough. i like it when traveling and can't bring my full computer but i don't really enjoy drawing on it because of the lack of an easy keyboard and attaching a keyboard to a tablet tends to be icky.

One of the biggest things that keeps me going is something Jim Carrey once said (paraphrased):
"You can fail at something you hate too, so you may as well do what you love"

Sure, I may fail as a VTuber (so far, I've been streaming for about 3 years and would consider myself as failing based on my super slow growth), but if I go and take some shit call center job with all the healthcare benefits and job security, who's to say I won't just be laid off all of a sudden? Even if I do my best and get a raise and constantly praised by my performance, suddenly the Delta variant hits and boom, I lose my job. Just an example.

Try it, anon. You've got nothing to lose besides your time and energy, but you're putting it towards something you want so it's not really a loss is it? This is why "enjoying the journey" is also important.

>Most vtubers stream on shitty laptops.
Most normalfags just think of PCs as social media machines. If anon is uniformed and actually asks for help I want to help him save his money.

A laptop is about the worst thing you can get in price/performance. It will overheat and throttle its performance by 80% from basic tasks and is guaranteed to degrade and become basically unusable in a few years time, forcing another purchase.

A NAC (or some other small form factor PC) literally overcomes all the problems and is the perfect fit for the job.
They are very compact and easy to carry around in the same bag as the laptop, will never overheat and throttle meaning a cheaper and worse spec will actually outperform a more expensive laptop. (And equal specs to the high end laptops will still be slightly cheaper)
He will be able to easily upgrade it in the future if he wants to slap a rtx 4090 in there but otherwise since it wont degrade its going to literally last him a decade for basic use.
At any point he can just plug in a keyboard/monitor and use it as a fully fledged desktop PC.

Its going to be cheaper and give him more use.

whether you start asap with a png and no flair or wait until you have everything together for a polished presentation, nothing can make you a good streamer more than knowing how to be entertaining. i have seen so many vtubers putting in all the stops to promote themselves and all that but when i tune into their stream they sit there near-silently for minutes at a time with the occasional cough or short responses spoken with zero energy. its no wonder why these people dont grow
i am waiting to get my model done and finish all my overlays and other visual presentation and then i will start streaming and Make Content and i will just fucking wing it and i will be great. all you really gotta do is have confidence, dont stop fucking talking, and dont be afraid to be cringe - being good at streaming is more just knowing what to do and breaking past the psychological barriers preventing you from acting as your best self.
its less an "experience" issue and more of a knowledge issue - experience can help you gain that knowledge, but you can do well or potentially better by waiting until you can put forth your strongest effort instead of just "making content" as long as you do your reps. worst case scenario you have some technical scuff, but if you know what youre doing you can easily play that off

Assuming you watch streams, perform this experiment. For a month, every time you go from twitter to twitch to check out a stream, take a screenshot of the tweet that sent you there.

After you've gathered up all those screenshots, sort them into two piles. On one side are the streams of people that you actively like and will attempt to watch whenever possible. Throw those out. Take the remaining screenshots and study them. What are the common factors in those tweets that got you to click that twitch link?

Apply those factors to your own tweets, and reap the benefits. This is a hint from my own research: you need to make streams that are "unmissable". They have to have something that won't be there in a VOD, or isn't available in 20,000 other streams(generic game playthrough).

remember that where you post is also what community will see and join from.
if you post on twitter you are going to get twitter tards and vtwitters, if you post on reddit you will get redditors.
unless you are one of them yourself its not that great of an idea

it depends on what you want anon…
if you are just a numbersfag and you dont care about tiktok children being your viewers and shaping your interactions with the stream then go for it and shill to them.
say if you were a tank simulator enthusiast it would make more sense to shill on a tank sim forum than on twitter for a bunch of vtwitterer circlejerkers.
whoever you shill to is going to be who comea to watch, unless you want to ignore them it would be a good idea to have them come from the same community as yours so you can interact.

anon, "tiktok children" have their own tastes. if you make good quality content and don't just copy the thirst trap and coomerbrain baiting, those "children" won't follow you. you cultivate the audience you want. tiktok audience isn't a unified monolith. the algorithm works to show you the things you and other people similar to you watch. so if all you're seeing is a bunch of children... you've got some problems, anon.

it can get you more hype pre or during debut if you have fancy overlays and stuff but ultimately the decider of whether ppl will stay around is if youre interesting and entertaining to watch (ie make good content).
basically going all-out on presentation and not doing your personality/comedy reps will get you nowhere past twitter followers and debut viewers; making good content but being barebones in presentation will make it hard to gain initial hype, but you will gradually gain viewers that stick around for you. doing both will help give you an initial boost and give you the ability to follow up on that and retain more debut viewers. that, or its up to you if you just want to put together a visual style you are proud of for your own sake.
