But yeah, while having no clear outline for the entire plot might hinder some of the major beats of the story, it's really good for making the characters act more natural and less stiff as you can write them how they would act in that situation and not how the plot demands them to.

My advise is that you're not trying to write a skeleton to railroad the plot, you're doing it to have a clear direction of where you want the story to go. It helps with thinking ideas along the skeleton you've built, letting you flesh it out and fill the meat how you like. Be flexible, but clear on the overall goals of your story.

When I wrote the timeline of my series, I didn't follow it to a tee, I just used it to help me plan things out so that future chapters are still cohesive with the plot in general(to the best of my abilities of course). All in all, you're heading to the X marked on your map, but how you get there is up to your creativity.
