She was lazy making the thumbnail and didn't delete the green areas the magic wand didn't select. It has a "tolerance" that you can change, if it's high it selects less aggressively and will leave areas like you see around the hair and collar.

I think it's kinda shitty of Cover to expect their streamers to know anything about photo editing. The indies do it because they have to, but you'd think best girl could throw a few bucks at one or two graphic designers to make some thumbnails. Most would do it for peanuts since it beats the shit out of making another page of coupons.

I get that, and it's easy enough to learn that anyone can make a halfway decent thumbnail without much effort. I just think that hiring someone that actually well versed in photo editing, and could therefore whip out thumbs in a fraction of the time with better results, isn't much to ask of a company that has been doing so well. At the same time though having the girls do it gives them a lot more freedom with their schedules since they'd have to communicate with the graphic designer their plans for the week, so there's pros and cons.

That's true, you probably wouldn't see the goofier and fun stuff from a someone employed to make these. Girls like Ina get to flex their skills making the thumbs too. Seeing Hakos' thumb here is what started that train of thought for me, but this is her very first one(as Hakos that is, don't know if she had any prior experience as a previous incarnation) so I'm sure she'll get better.

Look at the last Kiara phasmo thumbnail made by Ina. Any profesional editor would just take their png and a game SC and that's all... Your idea could work if they don't actually care that much or they have not time, but it lacks a lot of soul. Ina's thumbnail works really well because the Gorillaz reference about them being ''Gorilas'' (Also notice how around 15k people was in a Kiara guerrilla collab, thumbnails sometimes are most important than the stream itself)

Whomever made the thumbnail knows jack all about photoshop or maybe even made it in gimp.
Basically, they lost the alpha layer on the png and had to cut out the green fill with the magic wand and missed spots.
