I genuinely don't understand the taste of Holobronies.
I watched all the debuts but I don't get the appeal of Mumei or Kronii or Fauna, they seem totally lacking in substance as streamers. Is it really just the model and voice that shoots them up to popularity?
Sana and Baelz have much more "fun" personalities and seem very talented, why are they the least popular straight out of the gate? Their debut streams were also the least scuffed as well.
That kinda speaks a lot about the success of EN1 as well if all it takes is a good model and good voice to be popular. No wonder Kiara was the least popular when she's the only one without a generic north american accent.

It's more just lamenting that the fanbase has been taken over by...well by the kind of ironic weebs that like Kronii's gimmick. It signals a decline in the quality of the Hololive brand because they'll continue pandering to that segment of the fanbase even if the talents continue to make a good living.
We won't get anyone as good as Haachama or Nene again unless they can be flanderized into a single meme that gets incessantly reposted. We won't get creative characters when just plastering a nice voice over a bland personality is "good enough".

People here bemoaning why Sana is unpopular.
Kronii just played 12mins. She was hilarious. Her dark humor and sarcasm is really something. She doesn't dice with trying to look nice. She's just straight up evil.
Baelz is mature. She's a zoomer with some brains that knows how to talk instead of trying to shout at her audience. She cqn be hyped but it's well paced.
Fauna seems to really know how to keep convos going and keep her audience engaged. I will not watch asmr but I think I will watch her other streams.
Mumei seems to be the most ideal girl that would fit the "idol journey" trope that many holofags like. They want cute girls that are dumb that tries really hard in everything that they do. Like Aqua, Nene and Subaru.
Sana seems to me like the Polka of the group. She can certainly draw out content but will certainly need to try harded because of how niche her plans are. Astrology? Mio can only make it work because she has guests consulting her. Sana should probably do the same.

Speaking as a Krony, I just genuinely like Kronii's personality. Her sardonic disposition is right up my alley. I love how her first reaction to escape a loop in 12 minutes was to murder her wife...only to realize she could just leave the room. Or her growing anger at the wife's affection the longer she played. She's not too crazy or over the top which I'm really into. I can tell that she's still pretty nervous but over time she'll become more natural.

I feel like the gimmick of being sassy and a bitch kind of ran its course in her debut stream and she needs to be more than that. Mori did the same shit 50% of the time while being a ball of awkwardness the other 50% and I feel like even that worked better than Kronii's current stiff personality. She'll probably settle into something more flexible down the line but currently I can't really enjoy her streams.
Also, you'd think with her voice acting ability she'd be able to y'know...actually act. She can't. She can do the voices but her tone and personality is pretty much always the same. I guess there are voice actors that only ever play a single character but I'm more impressed by someone like Kanata that can play any kind of character on command.

I think people kind of wrote her off as rrat Ollie and that really hurt her. She's shown she's a lot more considerate and actually has a interesting personality beyond the zany fast-talking energy. Ollie is a lot deeper than that character too though, I think zoomers just have a short attention span and don't stick around long enough to see more than the surface.

I wish sana received a better design. It's actually not far off from being really good, just a couple things are funky about it that clearly it turns off a lot of people and I don't mean the skin color. The actual tone of the skin is slightly off actually to not quite look natural, but also it's the spacing on the face and the giant planet-dango things along with the swirly antennae that make it a bit too weird.

In particular the antennae is like.. what, is that a galaxy? It's not easily recognizable, imo it should have just been an actual tiny galaxy rotating above her head like a halo to illustrate the intended effect.
