i don't really see minecraft as a problem since it's what i enjoy watching the most.
It might not be a game for everyone but the collabs are often fun and single player often feels like zatsudan, atleast with ina and ame. Gura is too fishbrain to follow a single player stream, as evident in the last jp exploration stream.

I can understand for Apex given how it's always the same thing and needs to much focus to leave room for the vtuber expression.
But minecraft is honestly very versatile, you can do anything with it, be an autist, go for optimization/farms/automation, or creative builds, or more survival oriented, use it as zatsudan ground, for exploration, do events, games in the game, it's an open world with endless possibilities. You don't have to like it, but it's normal that many people play that, it's a very good game for streamers and audience.

Hololive is the Apple of the vtuber world. On the surface it looks cutting edge and high quality but once you start to dive deeper you realize that they're really just holding the community back.

It's because they got big in the west, gained inertia, and then kept acting like a conservative Japanese company. Incompetence and failure to innovate, coupled with having a stranglehold on the vtubing fandom, leads to content stagnation and loss of interest. Niches aren't being pandered to. Nothing new is happening. It's all just more of the same. And because indies are hard to discover (with agencies being seen as the great curators), most will just lose interest and primarily shitpost or do other things.
