Certainly it didn't help. But this is the result of an unstable child growing up in a unstable family too and reproducing the same broken belief after becoming an adult and a mother.
But Watame still keeps saying she will buy a house for her mother thinking this will somehow make her like her more and restore their relations.
This is because she accepted her mother's behavior as perfect in her childhood at a time when a child considers adults as gods. This belief that her mother is a normal person is the root cause for all of her suffering and all her sadness.
If she just spent some time remembering her past with her point of view as an adult she would understand this belief deserves her.

The main problem is that she believes that unconditional love does not exist and love is limited and something you have to deserve. If she were to change this belief she would stop being sad an finally discover the infinite love present in this world.
