Not really. I got super into vtubers and had a long honeymoon phase around December 2019.

No. I used to love them, watch everyday, even paid concert ticket for friends who couldn't afford to watch Hololive 2nd fes. I was a full-on idol otaku.
Then I realized I was gachikoi, went in a depression phase and after getting out of it, I realized 90% of the content they provide is shit if you aren't into the girl. Too much Minecraft, some really objectively uninteresting stuff like Kanata buying a new clock, Watame 10h superchat reading...etc
I started watching vtuber for their video game playthrough and I'm back to it, but since most of them don't really play new games, I mostly watch Pekora now.

Not really, So much bullshit happened to Hololive (and the places /here/ discussing it) that it stopped being the roleplayed K-On that it used to be for me and I can't even get hyped about it anymore. My indie oshi graduated into the void.
It's not all bad though, I've been watching smaller companies and found a few vtubers that I like. Ina and Polka are still making good solo content. One of the indies I followed back in the day got into a big company and I'm getting to live the idolfag's dream.

I enjoy them or else I wouldn't watch any at all but I wouldn't say I love them as much as I used to. It hasn't been a constant feeling, more like peaks of interest followed by realizing I need to slow down or distance myself. I've been around since the early AI days and even helped some homegrown tubers but in the end I always go back to stopping myself and watching two or three vtubers only.

>> No.9541499

For Hololive, not really. Ever since Coco left I haven't really been fully interested with them anymore. I guess the only ones that are keeping me around are Sora, Amelia and Kronii, but I'm not even sure how long that will last, since their recent games don't really interest me.

I have recently tried watching some of the smaller groups like Phase Connect, Prism, and Kawaii though. They may not have the same "magic" as Hololive, but there's some weird comfort in watching them sometimes.

Or I dunno, maybe I'm just bored of the current state of VTubers at the moment. I hope some fresh new face comes around and blows Hololive and Niji out of the water or something.

VTubers are weird, since at their core, they're just streamers like anyone else.
Very few actually take advantage of having an avatar.
For corpos I got bored with most of them fast, since I'm often a game-first type of person.
With indies it's slim pickings and it's hard to find ones that don't copy Hololive.
I'd say I equally watch normal streamers and VTubers.

If you're not in it for the parasocial autism or the numberfagging, then vtubers are bound to get tiring fast once the memes and rrats become too repetitive and uninspired. It was always a market structured around people having oshis and/or becoming gachikoi because that's the only edge they have on average streamers. It's just easier to become attached to somebody behind an anime avatar. Once the novelty wears off, there's no reason to watch them over normal streamers if you're not going to become emotionally involved somehow, be it going full gosling or just getting over-hyped about numbers. I honestly miss good old days of /hlg/ on /jp/ when you had those super active threads with their own share of schizos and bait but more under control and a chuuba newfag could actually learn a lot of stuff, VT is all over the place and it feels like half of the threads are bait that people keep falling into again and again.

>> No.9553726

I enjoy them more. The novelty does wear off, but I don't find it a bad thing that I'm no longer getting great enjoyment from random noises. The fact that I'm now able to actually follow the streams and enjoy their commentary without having to rely on subtitled clips is really cool, and I wouldn't have reached this point without getting into vtubers.
Probably helps that my favorite part of it is the music, and this part is always getting better, at least to my tastes.
And definitely helps that I'm madly in love with my oshi, who I didn't start watching until late last year.

Streaming and "doing idol stuff" is not exclusive. I'm talking about singing, record songs, voice pack, GFE, content around themselves, cooking, dance lessons...etc what they call "idol activity".
Also, if you watched Kanata's stream about their schedules, you'd know streaming is sometime less than half than what they do, it's nowhere near 95%.
They are focusing on their idol activity now because they have more famous, it opened more opportunities, things they couldn't do before. Sui-chan said she had so much people asking for her that she had to refuses some or she wouldn't sleep.

Before that, the "people who call them" were not studios, company, tv...etc but other vtubers, so they had more collabs on stream.

That's true, but it doesn't even have to be indies or small groups. For me it's mainly been Nijis that I didn't know before, and lately various Apex vtubers somehow (don't care for the game but still some good stuff from that scene).
That being said, I guess there's still some of those hipster types for anything less popular than Holos but that can't be helped.
