I've done it. It's not that hard, nor is it too horrible. Residents of Commiefornia pay more in state income taxes than most expats will pay in income tax, even if they are making low six figures (which is probably where she lands). It's not nothing, but as someone who lived in 3 different countries as an expat, it's an alright tax to pay on behalf of the superpowers granted by your US Passport. I didn't believe it until I traveled alongside people from several other countries: Chile, Korea, Guatemala, and New Zealand. All of them eventually had some issue that I didn't, purely because of that magical blue notebook that I get to carry.

She's risking a bunch of fines, for sure, and interest on those fines, which can be intense. The IRS has been horribly overburdened for the last 5 years, barely keeping up with the truly high-income tax dodgers, which are the real whales in this game. If she didn't declare income properly, what is more likely that, ten years down the line, she wants to do something involving the US, and she first has to clear up those back taxes (plus interest), and agrees to a payment plan with the IRS to make things right. Jail time is not impossible, but not likely for someone like her.

She's off to a good September start for superchats, and very decent viewership, though in neither case as big as her re-debut August. She's a very, very successful indy, with a loyal base.

Keep in mind that she's doing all this with her janky old Koikatsu Party model and no collabs.
