>(You) were lucky to get noticed
>(You) were lucky your messages to big Vtubers getting noticed
>(You) were lucky you got a shout out
>(You) were lucky a clipper clipped one of your streams and went viral
>(You) were lucky to get raided by high/mid Vtubers/streamers
>(You) were lucky there was someone obsessive enough to shill your content everywhere
>(You) were EXTREMELY lucky a pandemic hit the world isolating everyone in their houses who ended up wanting some kind of interactions.

And yet I still see indies who are either slowly making it or made it big already talking about how their hard work payed off, how it is all about hard work.... is fucking not. Taking out the luck factor is just naive in its entirety, even in real life, no matter how much hard word you put into something, it might not work the way you wanted or at all, you need luck, now for streamers, how they ride that luck wave is where the hard work takes part.

So before anyone thinks you can be a successful Vtuber fulltime... remember there is a sea of people years on the game with barely 10 views

Salty you're a 2view? The truth is no one HAS to watch anyone
Even if you get a shoutout or noticed or whatever if your content isn't good people will just leave
If people are staying it's because you've put the hard work into your content and given them a reason to

It’s never just hard work. But luck is hard work meeting opportunity. It’s not like a coin is flipped once. More like a loaded die rolled multiple times a day. Once n>1000 trends bear out even if outliers exist. This is true of almost everything not just vtubing.

The list of 2views gets cut down significantly if you filter all the men and non-English speakers from it. Most of the rest have hideous models or are streaming with other people, often men, instead of engaging with chat. If you are a girl, sound cute, and have a cute live2d then you can get guys to give you money while playing vidya. Just don't talk to guys and be cute to chat. It's that easy.

>(You) were lucky to get noticed
Could have just left it at that.

The entire entertainment industry works like this. Screenwriters, indie directors who run their film at midnight at film festivals to an audience of three tired people, western comic artists, graphic designers, actors,Musicians.

2cellos we're street buskers playing for pocket money until people like Elton John saw them and called the right people.

A friend of mine was an art school graduate who gave up and became a painter (houses) to make a living, and got his big break when someone called him up and said "I saw your truck, who designed your logo"? And his career as a graphic designer took off because he happened to be parked In the right neighborhood that day and got noticed.

>> No.9728032

>>9727889
It has nothing to do with that. It's because the money in being a vtuber comes from men. Except for a very few instances, men don't give money to male vtubers. It's similar to camwhoring. Male camwhores don't make it either. Gay men don't need to give other men money to men for attention. If you're gay you just go on grindr and get your asshole blown open. It's absurdly easy to get laid as a gay man. If you are a guy the chances of making it as a vtuber are fucking minuscule. That's just reality.

>> No.9728176

>>9728114
You don't need to be in Hololive to make that work. Here's a game. Go to Twitch, filter for the vtuber and English tags, then sort by views from low to high. Now try to find a 2view that doesn't have a male voice on stream or either no model or a hideous model. Good luck.

>> No.9728474

Take out shitters that literally cannot make it (there is no market left for some bland person playing apex at non-god level) and you've eliminated at least 90% of 2views. Most nobodies will not retain an audience if you literally drop it in their lap because there's nothing there to bring people back. You can't luckshit your way into viewer retention.

>> No.9730450

>>9726054
Of course there's luck involved. Nobody denies that.
You can be a great vtuber, but if you're in the ocean of 0 viewer streamers and don't get a shoutout or raid from someone bigger then nobody will ever know. You need some degree of luck to get an initial amount of viewers, from that point on you need actual talent and work to keep your viewers and grow your audience.

There is one chuuba with decent following /here/ that started by just tweeting a go-live announcement and just continued to grind every day. Now she is at 250+ since November 2020. Picked up drawing. Singing. Got better and better and streaming. Invested into herself and channel while doing her 9-5. Until recently pretty much zero networking. Just streaming. Can be done. You just need to put your back into it.

I'll use Ironmouse as an example. She had climbed from 0 to 50 views over two years on Twitch. In late January Melody sent a "raid" over from CB because she had seen Mouse's stream. Mouse retained most of those who went and has inclined ever since.

Compare that to when Mouse does her deep-dive streams and send hundreds/thousands of viewers over to various 2views. Most of them are still 2views today. You have to have something that catches people's interest and makes them want to come back.

Exactly. If it's all a lottery, luck determines when you win. Hard work determines how many tickets you get. Skill determines the prize.

Don't get discouraged on the dry streaks, but don't waste your time when all you can win is $10 each time (because the audience isn't sticking around). Or play the game differently, at least.

Golden rule of everything - the universe doesn't owe you shit. Stay humble.

You can either be Ironmouse or Zentreya and be at the game for years, slowly gaining an audience.
Or you can be Melody and get your foot in the door by spreading your 3d virtual pussy.

While I do agree that you need some degree of luck (and connections) to make it into any business, the issue with most of these 2views is that they don't know how to market themselves, and that all they need to do is wait for someone else to do the clipping, marketing and shilling for them - it worked for Holo, so it should work for them, right?

That's why despite all the vitriol she (or her group) gets in this Mongolian basket weaving forum, I will always have respect for Melody. She saw no one else was using Vtubing for sex work, and took her chance. And then when everyone and their mother was freaking out about it, media articles immediately put her name into the public consciousness. Melody is proof that sometimes you just need to have that 1 gimmick and that you can make your own luck

>> No.9754940

Nah, if they were funny they would get clipped and that would bring more views and all that jazz. Current popular vtubers just had it easier, becaue they had less competition, so they didn't have to work as hard to get noticed

Hard work for this is essentially consistency so you're put out there more often. If you don't put yourself out there then you have less probability to be noticed. Sure you can do this for a year streaming for an hour or more four or more times a week and still not break double digits. Luck is always a big factor, but if you don't work hard the chances will be even less.

Maybe one day you were playing that one game, on the right day, during the right hour, and you begin collecting and retaining more people. Probably why so many would be willing to go to corpos because it can catapult you to at least triple and quad digit views with certain ones and double digit with smaller ones hopefully bypassing the 2views.

also mutts have zero skills of voice acting. to be a vtuber you actually need a talent in good voice acting
singing and talking. you arent mentioning it in the slightest. put it another way, everyone cant be a vtuber. if you have shit voice and cant improve it, you should give up on it. you have zero talent of it.

Almost all those points can be solved if you have marketing budget. Work hard and invest in yourself. Go to gym, eat well, read business books, get a stable schedule and find creative ways to make your fans engage well and monetize that engafgement (make them vote with bits on one of two games they want you to play, best if you make them fight over it to donate more). No shit you fucking retard. You act like you've uncovered some secret when it's the most basic knowledge of the game. You've got to put yourself on the tracks if you wanna get hit by the train. Took me 4 years on YouTube as a 2view before my shit took off. Took Ame 5. Luck is involved and out of your control, endurance, persistence, determination, and handwork is in your control.
