I mean, it's less about the skill, or lack thereof, that goes into building a keyboard and more about knowing what kind of switches you prefer instead of just going with whatever a manufacturer hands you. She clearly talks about how she had to have advice from the manufacturers to get the hardware put together instead of having her own preferences regarding them. Still cool she has a custom keyboard made by Varmilo (Shion does too, which is also really cute) but I don't know if I'd put her on the level of actually being "into" keyboards as a hobby like Reine or Finana are.

You'll get a rush from you first few keycaps, but eventually you start needing stronger and stronger shit to get a fraction of your first high.

the hard way is to buy all the parts (or a kit) and use a soldering iron to connect the switches to the PCB. That's not very common these days though since a few companies have pretty good hotswap boards, where you can buy switches and just pop them in. This ends up being much easier to assemble, cheaper, and of course it comes with the added benefit of being able to use different switches if you so desire.
If you're interested I would recommend looking into the GMMK, they have one model just called the "GMMK" and another called the "GMMK Pro" which is a non standard layout and more expensive just because it's made of more premium material. The normal GMMK is fine unless you have money burning a hole in your wallet.

As a GMMK compact owner, I find myself missing the ability to program my own layers with QMK so that I can only really make use of them for arrow and function keys (which is already an improvement over a full size or tenkeyless). Missing that and the desire for better shoulder ergonomics are accelerating my mental degredation into building a lily58, but someone fine with regular keyboard ergonomics might be able to get more out of buying a fully programmable 60%.
