Any good entertainer, or artist really, should tell their fanbase to fuck off at least a little bit. Yeah there's the aspect that it wrangles the idiots and stops the fanbase from becoming garbage. But more than that the vast majority don't want fan-dictated content, even if they may think they do, because the average fan is an idiot with ideas that are terrible in execution. Pandering just leaves the majority of the fanbase unhappy. And, besides, you want content to be as earnest/represenative of the streamer as possible. Otherwise there's no edge or illusion of genuineness that the content needs to be fun, it becomes safe disingenuous bullshit. Nah, I get her. I also work in the creative field and I find that working on other's long-term projects is more fun than doing your own because you're only beholden to a single person and whether it fails or succeeds, the important response is from the person you're working for not the audience, so any disappointment gets shouldered by the other guy. There's nothing worse than the feeling of "what if I'm wasting all this energy and it ends up a complete flop?" Still, doing your own shit is way more rewarding in the end.
