Because Hololive staff has become lazy in filtering through the thousands of applications, so they just take whoever their current talent recommends. It's honestly going to kill the company because there will be no variety in terms of people's background, when most of them already know each other and it will just create internal group drama because that's what happens when women gather in groups.

To be fair, is has more or less worked well enough for them in the past, at least on the japanese side, where many of the talents already knew each other from being around the same old the same old NND otaku/letsplayer/singer -cliques.

Of course, this has much to do with the japanese "online amateur entertainment" scene being smaller and more centralized in general (all in the same country, for once, and even then most people being around the greater tokyo area, and all being on the same websites at that time) so it's only natural that some overlap occurs, networks develop and everybody is at most just a few degrees of separation away from each other. Also, personal relationships and recommendations don't really carry the same negative connotations in jp culture as in the west which thinks its an affront to meritocracy. A good word from a person you already trust carries more weight, and that's not even getting into the fact that most "nepotism hires" in HoloJP also came in a time when Cover wasn't already the hottest name in vtubing and didn't have their pick of a thousand applicants for every open audition spot, but had to make do with a way more limited reach, so personal word of mouth carried much more weight.

The idea is pretty sound. Companies initially hire what they think is the best for them based on mindset and skill. Similar people with similar mindset and skill drift together. If you are supposedly a top value 2view and you didn't at least make friends with other similar 2views when they weren't in a corp, then you're probably either not as good as you think you are, or you simply aren't the kind of person they're looking for because you likely don't naturally gel with their existing talent.

They refused to listen now there's two girls from botched companies and branches (VirPro, Myholotv gen 2 1.0) in HoloEN.
We told them to network, they kept trying to find workarounds. Now NijiEN is made up of friends from the same circle.
