Speaking as a research scientist, a biologist no less, you want to spam 70 slides each with a big picture and 1-2 sentences, with maybe arrows or circles around important parts highlighted if you aren't gonna be using a pointer. I know kiki did not fucking come to get grilled on a casual cool/fun presentation at fucking all but I mean as someone really used to this and actually having to judge student's work all the time, I fuuucking can't help it and knowing she actually may need to improve and present research some day I feel it useful for her to hear my thoughts, sorry in advance.

However this is really an infodump type stream and so it's not like she has to review of bunch of work she did herself. Even so in essence every slide she has with like 4 pictures each with a paragraph next to them? Just for starters, each of those paragraphs/pics could be its own slide. Ideally, then condense each of those paragraphs down smaller.

Also reading a giant wall of text off your slide is kind of off-putting because then it doesn't sound like you really necessarily know or rehearsed it as a presentation - if I learn nothing extra from hearing you talk vs if you just sent me the deck and I read the words, it doesn't feel much worth my time. She did have plenty of cool anecdotes and extra things to say beyond the slides though so it's all good, she was mostly fine with that, just there were some parts where she was literally taking a couple mins recanting text walls which is a nono.

It being short is also just fine to me too actually. I know a lot of champyons seem to want her to do like a 7 hour stream everyday ideally - but giant marathon streams would be intimidating/offputting to people looking to discover her content, having a variety of lengths helps people get to know her without feeling a need to suddenly commit their whole night for a 2view. I'm not saying every stream should be short but having a big spread could be useful.

I've seen some people actually turn out OK taking the risk (like a PI marrying her technician.. I've got some weird stories) but yes I've also seen people quit programs or get fired from it. It becomes just fucking impossible for both people involved to focus on their work if it goes awry. Perhaps the worst part is if the whole lab knows, and it colors the entire mood at work, you can just sense the collective unease in the air. It's the worst. I suppose one of the reasons /vt/ does not turn me off for all the gossip is because I've had times I was in the lab at 3am talking with a girl I usually never ever do about either her problems directly or the 'situation' in the lab etc.
