I used to watch and follow every oshi that fancied my taste, often waking up in the middle of the night for their streams.

But now after two months of Uto, I feel full and satisfied with just her. It's like strolling through a supermarket after a hearty meal.

It will be increasingly harder for her to engage with chat & members as she grows bigger and bigger, but such is the burden of popularity.

She still keeps her day job, I hope it's not out of some sort of necessity (anymore), but a genuine passion or a dream profession. Can't really say I chased mine just kinda slid into a comfortable spot with moderate effort.

The content of the streams shouldn't matter here. Comparing her to any other vtuber with similar sub counts shows a stark difference in the amount of views per video. I'll use Pikamee as an example. She has a similar sub count and her videos mostly top out at 35k to 40k. Uto's videos all reach 180k before they lose momentum. I highly doubt Uto is getting all of those views from her subs alone. Statistics show that most channels get 10-20% of their views from subs. This kind of difference in views per video in relation to sub count is practically only explainable by Uto getting pushed much harder by the algorithm than her peers.

Uto's resemblance to a popular hololive vtuber is the most likely explanation for why the algorithm picked her up. That's how she's succeeding. There's a term for something like this in the animal kingdom, which is called batesian mimicry.

If anything what made her popular is vtuber clippers (who primairly clip Hololivers) making clips of her and associating her with being watson's sister and making memes regarding it. First time I personally heard of her was due to one Hololive clipper's vid which had like 160k views just making a groundpound meme. Hence is also why alot of the EOP viewers are also subbed to Watson, as they're probably subbed to all of the EN and alot from JP side aswell whilst finding her via YT recommending clips.

At no point was it ever confirmed whatever the company was Chinese or not. That's just a schizo claim.

But no, she didn't mention the name of the company that she had connections to, might be due to some NDA still being attached, she is able to indie stream now at the least (seems it took a month or so just for that) but not sure if and when the contract will be terminated. Even if NDA isn't an issue, naming companies is bound to have a lawsuit coming your way regardless of the legality.
