Gen 2 is the weirdest by far imo, you have manji-gumi who barely stream and rarely interact anymore, Choco whose existence was made pointless by YT cracking down on ASMR and is just streaming Ark until total irrelevancy, and Subaru who just wants to be part of Gamers instead and only collabs with Ayame via F-A-M-S but does far more as SMOK since the oni can't stop shitting herself

It is because no one here views Gen 1 and Gen 2 as groups anymore.
Gen 1 and Gen 2 are nowhere near as close to each other as the later gens appear to be. When was the last time you saw either have an entire gen collab? Most people associate Subaru and Ayame more with OKFAMS than they do with Aqua and the rest of Gen 2.
Also they both have members who stream infrequently (Shion, Ayame and Mel) or aren't really that popular here (Choco and Aki).

Which is a fucking shame, gen 2 is my favorite because their personalities feel so unique.
They didn't develop their characters based on their fellow gen members (like how Kiara did with Mori), they debuted over the course of 6 weeks and rarely did collabs (their first full gen 2 collab was literally 4 months ago) which made them mostly independent from each other and I like that, trying to follow a holoEN discussion seems so convoluted in comparison to a gen 2 discussion
I also love their introverted personalities with the Subaru being our cute extrovert tomboy

Gen 4 is interesting because unlike other gen, their main interaction are mainly behind the scene and supporting each other, Kanata is always there for coco when she feels down while Towa is basically Yonkisei mama because she always visit Holohouse,remind kanata to eat healthy food and make herbarium for them especially for Luna when she's sick

Gen 2 is also my favorite.

To put it simply, it is because I like every single one of them, 2 of them (Aqua and Shion) I absolutely love.
While in the other gens there's always 1 or 2 that I either don't like or I am indifferent towards.
Also the interrelations between the members feel more genuine than some of those forced pairings that we get with the later gens (looking at you, PekoMarine).
