For me the biggest combatance to depression is to realize that what you are depressed about in the current moment is not your fault and at the same time feeling depressed over certain circumstances is very healthy, while finding the balance between these two things. Depression is like a stuffy nose, you can wash your hands all you want but its gonna happen every now and then and its gonna suck, the best you can do is not let it ruin your daily life until it goes away. Become annoyed with it, fight it, take just a single step towards being productive during a downward spiral and it makes the subsequent ones infinitely easier. It takes time, you're chipping at a glacier with a toothpick, and you might never finish. Personally my depression for personal reasons came in full swing in middle school, and I didnt really finish working out of that funk until senior year of highschool. It takes persistent, constant effort, but the more you build yourself up the harder it is for yourself to break you down. Anger becomes melancholy, melancholy becomes resentment. Fight resentment, its the hardest to come back from.
This is the mother of all cliffnotes but I dont really feel like shitting up the thread too much, maybe I'll write a book someday. Hope you anons find happiness, even if its temporary, because thats where long term happiness starts from
