I’m doing research into this VTuber thing and am quite intrigued. Can you guys give me a good list of a tubers to look into? If not I’ll just lurk and compose my own list, however thought it would be more efficient to ask

go to the /wvt/ thread if you want good recommendations

Just try a little bit of everything and see what clicks. Keep an open mind and you will find a chuuba you enjoy. They may be male or female, they may be corporate or indie, they may or may not speak English, doesn't matter.

I don't mind engaging with you, but you have to narrow it down.

Do you want someone who streams primarily in English?
Do you want to watch male or female streamers?
Do you want to watch gaming, singing, chatting, or variety content?
Do you enjoy being a recognized viewer in a smaller community (smaller channels), or, do you prefer to be a nameless viewer? If you prefer to be a nameless viewer, small and large channels are both OK.
There are simply too many questions that need to be answered before someone can recommend you a VTuber.

I think most streamers in Nijisanji EN are pretty good and accessible for lack of a better term but those three are a good balance of gaming and variety content.

Sure this is enough to get you started but this will be of course my tastes and other people will have their own opinions. Since you said nameless, I will recommend you three of my favorite large/corpo streamers.
>Pikamee (VOMS)
Half American, Half Japanese. Streams in both languages simultaneously. Very energetic and extremely personable. Both her gaming streams and her chatting streams are usually quite entertaining
>Gura (HoloEN)
Has one of the sweetest voices of any EN chuuba (both for speaking and singing.) Not the most talented at games (although quite proficient at rhythm games), but she has so much talent and is very quick witted.
>Ina (HoloEN)
This is a go-to comfy streamer. She is also an amazing artist, so if you like it, it can be nice to just relax and watch her draw with your brain off. She has a very relaxing voice and a calming personality.
>Pomu (HoloEN)
She is a full weeb and a genuinely spunky and funny personality. I feel like she is very entertaining to watch and she always has a lot of funny stories to share. She also almost certainly used to spend a lot of time /here/

Clipping channels are always worth checking out to get a feel for the streamer. But you should never take them as more than a guide, they are not a replacement to full engagement with a channel. They are often geared to getting views rather than showing a complete picture of the chuuba.

Good luck!

Get the fuck out of here while you still can and don't look back. I do not care where else would you look for recomendations but this place is not it.

Don't. Get out of here and don't get involved with vtubers. It's not worth it.

>Selen Tatsuki
NijiEN's former "pro" Apex player who's aiming to finish her extensive backlog of games after years of being Apex-only. Quintessential tomboy; she spends 70% of her streams laughing and will banter with anyone that has a pulse.
>Kiara Takanashi
I bit of a controversial pick here, due to her being generally loud, having a strange voice, and being somewhat of a "stacy". Swore herself to being exclusive to JRPGs, but has branched out a bit since then. One of the go-to standard idols in HoloEN. Peak extrovert; will talk to almost anyone and frequently organizes collabs. Banters with her chat often.

Both of these girls collab with other vtubers regularly and will actively get the best out of whoever they're collabing with, making them good choices to not only watch alone, but also to branch out from.
Kiara mostly sticks to collabs with other female vtubers and Selen will collab with both male and female.

Kiara is the only holo who ever read a message of chat despite having membership to Gura forever. I was really surprised to just hear her grab my question out of chat and answer it. Anyway, I don't use chat on a large stream anymore, it's just too pointless.

People who argue numbers might be some of the most annoying on this board, but checking out the vtubers with the most views might unironically be the best starting point. There's a reason people love them and it's because they're entertaining.
/#/ keeps a good record. There are mostly EN/JP female at the top, and you'll really be a nobody unless you spend your life savings on donations.
Just don't get too attached to Hololive culture if you want to branch out because they have a very unique subculture within the scene.

Nah I started with yonkisei/doog but branched out to vshojo and now twitch indies with 3 digits like numi, kisa, or whisper
But even if I enjoy watching them I have to acknowledge their lack of production value, or that some of them have to work on their consistency entertainment-wise, or their banter. So for someone who's just getting into vtubers and doesn't care about the streamer interacting with them, I'll absolutely send OP in the direction of the big fish in this small pond.

Nijisanji is the basic vtubing entry level starter pack. From there, you expand into small corpos and indies.

Hololive is a walled garden in decline, so watch that if you get off on seeing vtubers suffer.

774inc. is a good starting point. Lots of cute girls with a wide variety of content. They also collab a lot, which is a good way to get to know different vtubers.
774inc. currently has five branches; AniMare, HoneyStrap, VApArt, Sugar Lyric and Hiyoku no Crosspiece. HiyoCro debuted last Sunday, so now is the perfect time to jump in.
