Theres some amazingly entertaining Apex players, they're just outside the main sphere of Vtuber companies like Uge and Noah who are in 774 inc and Iris Black Games. They're good at the game and are simply cute. Apex is fine. The game is not the main content of the stream, unless you're an EOP watching a JPtuber. Then I can understand why you're mad.

Apex has a lot of downtime where collabs can shoot the shit with each other, or a solo streamer can banter with chat. There's also all the tournaments going on in japan, which means there's a bunch of tournament arcs you can follow. CR cup is coming up on White Day (March 14). The game selection of Hololive is the worst thing about it. Ark was unwatchably boring. Apex is on par with it.
Minecraft is 99% boring, but at least it has led to some good clips and its a good platform for all the holo girls to converse and intermingle. I can understand why that is never going to go away.
But then you have stuff like Undertale, where they all decide to play the same game at the same time. Its total oversaturation. On top of that, you have smaller Vtubers chasing the hololive trends, playing the same games they do. It is all so tiresome.

Pekora playing Shadow of the Colossus was such a breath of fresh air. Or Korone playing Crazy Taxi.

Yeah pretty much, but there's reasons for it. Aqua and Astel are both really fucking good, so not only can you learn a lot from them by watching, but they'll pop off a lot and do entertaining shit like when Astel started singing when he thought he was about to win. New players get a boost from people wanting to watch them suck at the game and any collabs, but that wears off soon. People that keep playing and are bad just aren't interesting to watch for any reason, though if they actually improve it helps. Anyways, collabs tend to be an overall boost unless they're both bad like Ollie/Matsuri.

One of the things I hate about vtubers playing Apex is that I can't help but shake the feeling that it just feels painfully obvious that they aren't playing the game. Uto for example struggles to even clear out a single room in Doom Eternal yet when she's playing on Apex she's 360 no-scoping.

It just reminds me of that scandal several years ago of a twitch thot gaining a lot of traction in the Overwatch community for being a pro with the usual simps declaring it as a win against incels, only to find out it was a dude playing in the background all along.

Eh, it depends. I noticed Uto usually hits when using hit scan weapons in Doom, but she has trouble with projectile weapons, which are the majority of weapons.
I know all weapons in Apex are projectile, but their travel speeds are fast, almost hit scan.

Yes? Even in close combat, Doom projectile weapons' energy balls are visibly traveling.
In close combat in Apex you hit if the target was at the cross the moment you clicked.
It's only in far distance combat that you need to read and lead.
In Doom, if you hit anything at long distance with the projectile weapons, it's dumb luck.
