Before trends are formalized and made available to the public there is a period of 5-10 years where the Chinese experiment and begin demographics work. Buying Bitcoin in 2011 is the same as discovering vtubers in 2015-17. I am an attention whore and I love so much when people watch me play video games and I want to make friends who will enjoy watching me play video games. If I get more popular than that, then hooray. Indie yes, corporate no, especially those corporate that just trying yo dip in the vtuber boom. Even Crunchyroll Hime can get near 70k subs I doubt people even care if youre a vtuber for Konami or Atlas if you dont mix the corporate stuff and vtubing together. Or just shill yourself here, you'll get small subscribers but large live viewers with dedicated gachis that would do your fanarts and clips like Beatani, with the only downside is your community being filled degens. Shilling on Reddit is easy 10k subs but your live viewers won't even break 20

Somewhat. Niji EN Wave 3 proves that the current EN fandom is getting stretched too thin and getting people to ditch their current oshi for someone new is harder than before. You can still make it if you're really good, but there's a lot less room for a merely above average Vtuber to make any waves.
