What was that clap sound polka made at 0:44? She is obviously holding the cards with both her hands so I'm confused if this is post commentary, not her hands or maybe she has such thick thighs that they can sound like hands clapping when she closes her legs

in Japanese "feet" and "leg" is literally the same word, there is no difference except context

Yes exactly and if you watch the clip you'll understand why I pointed that out.

Correct. That's why it's the translator's job to use the correct English word in their translation by considering the context of the situation.

Imagine a JP chuuba said they stepped on a lego and how much it hurt their "ashi".
If a translator writes "I stepped on a lego and now my leg hurts" they are a shitty translator and most likely a SEAnig. This shit happens way too often and it genuinely makes me angry whenever I see it, especially now that I've started learning Japanese.

The same thing happens with "omoshiroi" and translators writing "interesting" when they should have wrote "funny" or vise versa. It's really obvious which one you should use if you ever pay attention to what they're saying.

I think english is not limited at all. Problem with english is its got to be the most cancer language to learn by far. foreigners that learn english later in life are crazy. I think that spanish overall is the best language despite their grammar being fucked

>> No.13087249 [DELETED]

>>13086708
That's not exclusive to Japanese, actually. Almost every language uses the same word for leg and foot. There are even languages that use the same word for arm and hand as well. English is actually the exception here.

>>13086838
English is one of the more verbose languages. Only Korean comes close to the amount of words English has, though the comparison isn't exactly the same. English is the language with arguably the largest amount of words.

>>13087093
If you've ever read Spanish poetry, you would understand it to be one of the shittiest languages as it's incredibly difficult to describe new or technical concepts in Spanish.

>it's incredibly difficult to describe new or technical concepts in Spanish.
Because they just grabbed the english words as loans anon... As a spanish I think the verbal conjugations are pretty much fucked up, but overall is a pretty flexible language, english just sound... stiff

>> No.13087500

>>13087249
Ive been learning spanish and japanese, maybe spanish just comes more natural to me because my second language is similar to it, but its not just about leg and foot, japanese has so many words that have multiple meanings, even moreso than english. Im pretty sure thats why misunderstandings are so common in their stories too, because the language is very easy to misunderstand

>> No.13088601 [DELETED]

>>13087500
Yes, that is the exact reason why the US's Department of State lists Japanese as the most difficult language for a native English speaker to learn, or at least they used to. Japanese used to have an asterisk next to it in the Category IV languages clarifying it as more difficult than the other languages in the same category.
https://www.state.gov/foreign-language-training/

Kanji in particular drastically changes meaning and reading depending on context and the okurigana used (the hiragana used right after the kanji base). This is different than Chinese and Korean where every Kanji only has one meaning and reading. This makes learning the language extremely difficult despite it's relatively simple grammar.

Izutsu is Polka's staff minion at Cover HQ. That's right, Polka is the only one who has a official manager and a staff minion.

Izutsu appears as a foil in the weekly legend of polka episodes. She has appeared in the flesh a few times including the pack opening stream. She does grass touching things for Polka who is otherwise a neet who locks herself in her attic and can't be bothered to open her own card packs or go to the beach or do any normie activities.

>> No.13094735 [DELETED]

All of the Legend of Polka episodes have official English subtitles. She works really hard on them and wants her EOP viewers to watch them too. Please go watch them!
