It's not that they don't feel pressure to, it's that it's extremely difficult to do and requires a lot of knowledge most chuubas at the top don't have or even know where to start. The two most innovative things lately have been the mouth tracking improvements for both 2D and 3D models, and that hand tracking gimmick that no one will use because I watch chuubas who haven't even used their Wave hotkey since their debut or redebut.

3D is where a majority of the innovations are and likely where they'll stay, but that also happens to be where the bottleneck for tech knowledge is, that's why CodeMiko is the only person doing full mocap in a virtual environment with pre-programmed triggers, because she already had that knowledge. I've seen two other chuubas do something similar but they're both still in the planning stages and don't stream it, nor do they have mocap suits.

even though there's been a little innovation in terms of content and model art, the majority of vtubers are modern anime-flavored L2Ds and Vroids with content focused around addict games like Apex and Minecraft or monthly game releases
this is largely the same paradigm Hololive and much of the japanese side of vtubing was at back in 2018
if i had to make a direct comparison to anime, the western vtuber industry is very akin to the old toei-dominated anime industry, with young animators studying Preston Blair's "Cartoon Animation book and the works of Disney's Nine Old Men much like how western chuubas are trying to emulate the east
perhaps a second explosion will come when, as how it happened with anime, alternative styles become more popular in the western vtubing industry. in fact, western-styled or otherwise experimental art models and more interactive content types have already emerged, but they are only in their infancy

I can't actually tell if this was a joke or not. Most western vtubers are just normal streamers with anime avatars. From the top, right down to the bottom. The streamers themselves are just weebs so they like anime shit like genshin, MOBAs, and gacha. I've seen a few people talk about this, and the general consensus seems to be that there's limited slots per area per time, and it super depends on the area manager.

For instance, France. Natsuko had the numbers, sent in an application, and it was held for over a month before she heard back. No other French streamer got partner in that time either, so it seems they just fucked off on holiday for a bit.
