People talk a lot about how hard Umisea flopped, but Holodeath flopped so hard that everyone always forgets it and never brings it up in discussions of what Hololive's hardest flop was. It's weird because Calliope and Ollie are clearly good friends, and she seems to get along with Rushia well enough too, but forcing them together in some corporate mandated collab bullshit just turned out to be a complete disaster. They didn't even put a song like Umisea did (just as well, the Umisea song was one of the worst received songs in Hololive history), or any cute animations, which were the best thing about Umisea. Cover needs to stop forcing this stuff and just let the groups form naturally. It turns out better for everyone.

Holodeath is not a corpo collab group. If you actually watched streams and didn't sit on /vt/ to gossip like a chatty faggot you would've seen it naturally forming over time. It has no merch because it's not pushed by the company and thus the girls would have to pay for it. They don't have any shorts because Cover didn't pay anyone to make some. The main Hololive channel hasn't acknowledged them in any way. The awkwardness present in their two streams is partially from Calli not understanding Japanese well enough and Rushia not understanding English well enough. Calli already drops her spaghetti pretty hard around senpais, add in a language barrier and she's a square third wheel. Go find something else to be a massive faggot about because you don't have a point to make here.

What did people expect out of Umisea anyway? They made a few collabs, some fan content, and some merch. I doubt they expected this to be some long running thing. It probably did exactly what they hoped it'd do in short term; make money off of a novelty team-up of three of their most popular streamers, and Ina.

It annoys me to no end how Calli can speak Japanese but she insists on speaking English even in collabs with Japanese people. It's been a year and you're the second most popular person in Hololive, stop being so shy about it. Ina speaks better and more confident Japanese than you and she doesn't even live in Japan. Hell, even Sana put the effort in to try and communicate with Watame in Japanese the other day instead of just speaking English and hoping she understood it like Calli does. And I guarantee Sana's Japanese skill is nowhere near Calli's. But her collab with Watame was way less awkward than every single Calli collab with a JP.
