I think it was too ambitious. I like the approach taken by Nijisanji better which was to start first with visual novels.

the visual novel is a fangame made by Mito, not a nijisanji led project. Nijisanji project are stuff like Yumenographia and NijiID, aka flops

unironically, yes. there isn't much, but at least it looks decent art direction-wise. i've been waiting for a japanese take on the survival craft genre. DQB was great but wasn't a good multiplayer game.

They threw a lot of features in, but it feels aimless and maybe too expensive for a non-gaming focused company.

Hololive made a craftopia game with Holomem models. It has break dancing.

Pretty much all assets in the video are placeholders, that's a proof of concept video meant to show what kind of game it is, the aesthetics, and the mechanics.

too ambitious, should be investing in Holostars instead

For people anxious for news about the game, I have a recommendation that makes time fly: When was the last time you examined your navel? I mean really looked at it. Though gameplay is somewhat limited at this point, the graphics are extremely realistic and the textures very high res, though as of this writing there is only one (unique) skin per player character. Also, it does have haptic feedback (sometimes a rumble), though the audio is very muffled. But if like me you're into open-world exploration with survival elements, your own navel is a wonderful place to start. It also seems like new areas are being built up around my navel all the time, for further adventures.

I doubt cover will include this as an in-game feature, so I'm having fun with it now, during the wait.

Also, when do you think the next trailer will be released, and isn't it obnoxious that they haven't include EN?

It looked way too early to in development. Either way it'll be years before it's playable. I'm more interested in whether or not it'll be anything but a bog standard sandbox survival game with holos.

I just hope it's not gonna be an another survival game and they're gonna add some deeper mechanics other than crafting and building to it to differentiate it from hundreds of other games like this. I know they said they're gonna add more features but from what they were listing out it seems like they just plan on expanding on the survival gameplay, which is alright but it's not gonna stand up on it's own.

I don't man. As a gamedev myself this whole showcase feels like they have no clear direction of what they actually want to do.

>bare minimum functionality required to be playable
There is nothing here. Implementing some basic mash enemies + loot + pick-a-build-prefab-to-place is not really a direction, not really what you can call basic functionalities. I'm going to give them the benefits of the doubt since they're doing it in VR too(?), but that barely counts even as a tech demo at the moment.

>new areas, creatures, cooking system, skill system.
This... is just padding. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love doing that kind of pointless shit too, but if there's no purpose to all of those they are going to get old real fast.

To be honest if the "game" just ends up being a generic sandbox but where hololive fans can meet up and do basic "open world" shit, with random events where they get to actually see their oshi ingame, that'd be more than enough. And actually let's just dream for a second, if it works on VR without bugs and with good performance, it's unironically going to be a better VRchat.
