Holostars EN would be popular with Taiwanese people and SEA. Holostars already has a large Taiwanese & SEA audience. People mistake the audience of Holostars EN as coming from purely native English speakers regions instead of ESL regions, they'll be very proper with ESL just naturally and then they have a chance of being popular with English speaking communities if they get somebody who can properly connect with existing twitch streaming audiences. If you think about what the "cost" of a vtuber is, very little. For a group with the popularity of Hololive, any initial expenses for a new talent (for example, model and rigging costs) will be recouped and amortized many times over the moment you hit monetization (so in their case, pretty much instantly). Even the "lowest performing" mainline Holo (so, no edge cases like Stars, but even they could also be profitable if they're frugal) brings in much more than you spend on her, so Cover is yet far from the point that they have spread themselves so thin with chubas that a significant amount of them make a substantial loss.

Unlikely. Given Cover's recent hiring of gens, the profile they're looking at has increased so much that only established content creators have any reasonable chance, not some fresh 2view without any impressive track record.

I agree it does make it lose some of the "charm" that Hololive had, back in the day when they weren't so big and didn't have so much pull, and had to depend much more on picking any rando that came by to apply, so you had gems in the rough like Subaru etc. who were new to this whole vtuber thing and brought something unique with them. Even if you just look at the smaller english startup corpos like Kawaii, Prism, Cyberlive or Tsunderia, in each group there are at least two or three standout girls who I think have what it'd take to easily imagine them doing well in Hololive, with different charming personalities and entertainment qualities that'd have people eating out of their hands if they were only given the bigger spotlight.
But to be fair, I also don't have the highest opinion on the general normie Hololive fanbase in general (so not us anons here, as >we are all very discerning and smart of course) where even a total piece of cardboard would get handed a six-figgy subcount before even debuting only because it has the coveted blue triangle next to their name. Couple that with how kinda underwhelmed and disappointed I was with Council, it's not hard to imagine how much better some of the other more talented girls out there would do in their position.
Well, I'm just saying quality is still out there, and even if you say "but they already belong to a company", sure, but it's only a small one and everyone would totally jump ship if offered the opportunity for the big leagues. Not a few of them are probably only in these small corpos in the first place as some kind of "transitionary" job to gain experience and resume in the meantime while they continue to apply in the background.

StarsJP still does well compared to other companies, but I don't think they're popular either. They do have a dedicated following, though.
I also don't think it's because NijiENs get more just for speaking English either, more that they genuinely took a chance and were building hype of a male-only wave since August. Cover for all we know will probably drop them in the middle of nowhere 2022 and who knows if it'll even work assuming Niji doesn't get more males in before they do. Plus you need to think about how many people watch Cover for females VS males, and why anyone would even apply to StarsEN when you probably wouldn't be able to easily collab with certain talents compared to Niji with KR/ID/JP.

Thing is, he can do both things, and he can suck shekels from two entirely different demographics, and use one to fuel the other (namely, he can play through games as a Vtuber that he later uses for his Sseth videos). He'd probably be better off going to somewhere with more freedom than Hololive though.
