I also want to extinguish some negative preconceptions towards her genmates. You have to watch the streams where she gives a Japanese lesson to Gura and a German lesson to Flare, respectvely, those are short by Kiara´s standards, and actually sort of useful as an introduction to speaking the language or a phrasebook. She sprinkles tons of personal shit into her streams all over the place. It's tough to give a single stream for this kind of thing as I see it as her building herself up. If you wanna go deep dive, start from the beginning to get the full scope. Here's a rundown probably not perfectly summarized in spoilers so you don't have to read if you want to experience some of it for yourself.

Started Hololive in Japan, was basically broke, lonely with all the covid stuff in 2020, and applied to Hololive as a last ditch effort to live her dream as an idol.
Her and Mori's friendship grew pre-debut because both lived in Japan apparently close enough to hang out regularly and they were both going through the same shit so they could relate.
Kiara kind of clung onto Mori for emotional support as she felt her way around the Hololive bubble, but she had been watching Hololive in late 2019-2020 so it's hard to break the fan to co-worker bubble.
Lived in a house that had mice problems and Casper, a long running joke, came out of this because she didn't want to talk about it being a mouse on stream and called it a ghost instead.
In early 2021, her 1 year temp visa ran out and she had to move back home. There's a really sweet stream with her and Mori doing one last in-person collab with the song "Flying on a Jet Plane" where she broke down in the middle of singing it because she was about to lose the one person that kept her emotionally stable at the time.
She moved back home and had a real depression arc, her ties with Mori weakening a bit due to no one in particular other than the distance and time zone difference.
Lots of sad moments on stream as she slowly rebuilt her life. Lot of personal stories told during this time that really are both heart-wrenching and motivating. I joined around here and I couldn't stop watching.
June rolls around and she finally settles in in her home country. She's rebuilt some of her friendships she had erode a little and seems to be in better spirits.
July is a great month of positive energy for her. She expresses how much she loves her fans constantly because they stuck with her through all of the shit, from tech issues early to depression streams months ago. Her birthday letter to her fans was a fucking arrow to the heart for me (not that there weren't other things that really pushed it) and her genuine love for the positive support she gets from them is endearing as all hell.
Good times from here on out. She's been doing well, occasionally has some issues, but who doesn't? We have mamatori (her mom) coming on stream multiple times after she talked about her being a "Gamer" to help with the MC server, tons of collabs, and just a flourishing of Kiara's happiness.

I can't imagine why that would ever be the case. Kiara if anything would go similar to a Kson route and do a mix of vtuber/live action stuff according to her mood, and be even more free to collab without restrictions.

I could see her becoming even more popular as a result. Her success as Kiara in Hololive just proves all she needed was a platform to expose a broader audience to her content. After hololive, the sky's the limit and she has a very respectable solid base of fans who know what's up and will be easy to signal her next moves to.

That's kinda actually what I was looking for, KFP-Historian... that's heartbreaking to hear that she fell into depression. I wish that it wasn't true, but I sense that she is such an empath that I can believe it. iirc there was even a stream even after the whole outfit incident that made me wonder is she was quitting (which would have crushed my heart I think).

I also didn't know she was so close to Calli back then - I guess my initial assessment was incorrect and foolish.

She has a real issue with just accepting that people like her, perfect example being her getting glowing praise all over the place from KFP and Greynames for her hallelujah rendition. I think this is actually why I've fallen for her - I find her oddly relatable. I'm not afraid to state to a bunch of strangers on an anonymous message board designed initially for weebs that I have confidence issues as well, and I know my insecurities are unwarranted most of the time. I guess seeing her in action is kind of inspiring - she just comes off as so passionate, grounded and... fucking 'genuine'. Like so many other cam-tarts/gamer girl/etc. streamers seem so superficial. But I never get that sense from her whatsoever. She comes off so purely raw, but I appreciate that even more. I guess that's why I follow and want her to succeed - She clearly deserves that.

I talked about it a thread or two ago, but I think the avatar affords them a little bit of 'letting their guard down' which can come off as them feeling a lot more genuine. When you don't have to worry about how you're physically presenting yourself to your viewers, you can be a lot more relaxed in general which leads into more open-ness. You know your viewers are coming there for you, you personality, and in some rare cases (at least in Hololive) your gameplay and it probably feeds into the feeling of gratitude towards your viewers.

No she wouldn't have. Not at all. She does well bouncing off of others and when she can't confide in us because it's top secret shit, she needs an outlet. Having people in a similar spot as her to some degree gives her a sense of comradery and helps her push onword. Can you imagine the work to set up pre-debut stuff without anyone else to talk to? No JP senpai's, only some managers and that's it. She's said before that there were moments where she really felt like she wanted to leave, and I'm guessing that quiet a few of those were early in her streaming, when Mori was there as a support for her in Japan. But I do think the first time she brought it up was on a collab with Gura, or a stream where Gura was there for a lot of it, one or the other (definitely Minecraft though).

Before that she's kinda sorta skirted around the topic, usually when bringing up how she feels kinda bad about making it into Hololive in the first place, but it always led to absolutely nothing. She would keep saying the same things and then not actually doing anything about it. Like how she had legendarily bad rep with collabs for fucking up like 4 in a row due not doing proper prep, and always saying "it won't happen again next time I promise".

Honestly I don't enjoy watching Mori, her weird dorky shtick, the way she talks, her humor, I don't like a single thing about it. But she might be the Holo I respect the most, even more than Kiara, since she went from an absolute shitter to being incredibly on top of the grind. She puts a competitive amount of time and effort to any non-holo top streamer nowadays, makes a special effort to finish all the shit she starts (which Holo EN has always been remarkably bad at), streams almost as much as Kiara, and goes out of her way to collab with and help her coworkers as much as she can nowadays, even in non-intrusive ways such as pretty much permanently holding VC open-invite.

The thing is that I feel like Kiara has been on that grind from the start, where Mori is playing catch up. All that time Mori spent being sub-par, she was still learning what works and doesn't work, and that's the reason for her rapid advancement. Her genmates are all helpful people who would enthusiastically help her when she asks. Kiara practically had to beg Mori to come to her for help and advice.
When I see that Mori is actually trying to make collabs work now, it still reminds me of the bitterness I felt when she would sandbag those Kiara collabs. Especially the ones after the move, right when Kiara needed her most. Nowadays, all these other chuubas who practically worship her are showing her the same adoration that Kiara did, and she's rewarding them with all the engagement she starved Kiara of, while Kiara doesn't even get to collab with the chuubas that look up to her.

I'm quite conflicted on the topic of different Myth members. I truly believe that Kiara was quintessential in guiding the gen away from becoming a JP Gen 2 where aside from a couple of friendships, they're not particularly close to one another, and her efforts were definitely not met with the amount of respect that she deserved. But on the other hand, Myth being as they are formed Kiara into the streamer that she is today and I'm not sure she'd be my oshi otherwise. Imagine if Cover wanted to play the gen safe and chose talents that were more in line with the existing audience like Kiara was: she would have no problem with collabs and her first months would have most likely been a lot stronger, but then she'd never seek out Marine for advice and get a different perspective, she'd probably be more distant from KFP as she would have no need for us to fill the void, less streams and also probably less improvements as she'd be able to coast by easier. In a way, Myth being as autistic and specialized as they are has armed Kiara with a lot of tools she'd otherwise have no chance to get.

Honestly, I think they are fine and getting by now, but I think after the move Mori pushed Kiara away and resented her. I say this because people always seem to forget how close they actually were before the move and try to make them look more distant (specially Mori, part of the reason why I think this is her fault). They were pillars for each other in Japan, this might sound cute, but I would go as far as to say they were codepent. Kiara made other friends in Japan, but none made her so attached or sensitive as Mori. Mori has made and had other friends in Japan, and yet she put Kiara on a pedestal and tried to make her feel special (she says she was only using money people sent her for the vacation, and yet she admitted that Kiara was the first person she was gonna travel together with). Remember that Kiara almost cried in the Q & A because suddenly Mori acted very harsh to her, Mori was putting the tsundere act on display, but remember also that Kiara boasted that Mori was different in person with her and that she even got hugs every time they met. That trip made Kiara feel like they were past playing their parts and stereorypes and what hurt her was the realization and fear that nothing even mattered to Mori. And this is the thing that is hard to say about Mori, with the very information we have she seems somewhat manipulative. Mori went from "hugging while crying because you're going away" to "I don't need to contact you or look out for your safety" in the mere spam of a week. She never even contacted Kiara to see if the trip was okay and we know this because Kiara told us at the time that they weren't talking. And here is the thing that puts the nail in the coffin for me: Kiara said that when she met Mori for the last time, Mori literally begged her to stay in Japan. Think about what that entails. Mori was so desperate for things to stay the way they were, for Kiara to stay with her, that she literally humiliated herself and pleaded for something she knew was impossible. I think Mori started resenting Kiara for going away even before she went away because she was also incredibly attached to her. And then when there was nothing that could be done, she vanished to hurt Kiara because she was already hurt. If Mori is the type to say stupid shit like "please stay in Japan" when she knew there was no getting around Kiara's visa, what could she have said to Kiara in private about their friendship? What could have made Kiara say that she misses Mori, but she wasn't sure she missed her? How did she act to Kiara afterwards? What could have made her say that collabing with Gura was better? What could have she said to make Kiara look even more distant than she ever was? Kiara received many calls during her birthday, her friends, her osshi, even her mom... But the one thing that broke her and made her emotional and cry was Mori being nice to her, even with her stupid excuse of making the song last minute. Nothing affects Kiara quite like Mori, and seeing how everything played out, its hard not to distrust Mori or at least feel like Kiara deserves better than someone that makes her feel undeserved.
