The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

How do you deal with the psychological fallout of an off day? Say you've usually got several active chatters and double digit viewers, how do you cope with those odd days where nobody seems to show up?

Try to figure out why. Was it the first time I've played that game? An unusual day, or time? Did I remember to post on discord/twitter to let people know?

If I've done everything I should, then I'll just write it off. Maybe if the figures were really bad I'll go and comfort eat or shitpost in the back, because my coping strategies are terrible.

But I'll make a note of it, and maybe switch the day (Wednesday isn't a great day for viewers, but it's my free day midweek). But if I get bad numbers a few times for a single game, then I'll remove it from rotation.

All constants were pretty much the same, bit of a slow day for in-game content, mobage content ebbs and flows, probably wasn't an awesome choice for the day but I've had better numbers on worse days so I'll chalk that up to luck. Those don't exist. You'd need to pack your walls with heavy insulation to absorb sound to get anywhere near "sound proofing" levels. This is a meme and doesn't actually work. Your best bet would be to raise the gain on your microphone and just talk closer into it.

You will be able to measure your success by the amount of new follows each raid produces. Most of them just want to leave so you have 10 secs to make a pitch: this is where you have to show people why they have to click on the heart.

The one person who excelled at this was Little_S, and there is a reason why he is one of the few males to make it to partner on his own.

Worry less about them staying and worry more about giving them a reason to come back once they haven't been through a 24 endurance run of FF14

Well planned and coordinated raids let chuubas build a shared audience. This is basically how proto vshojo was formed. This is also the power of Twitch groups which are basically proto corpos.
You will have to ditch the deadweight a.k.a males unless it is a pimp like Krimbo who can actually boost you up. SouthSide might grow into a small power just because of this.

Chuubas /here/ have a tendency to say "oh I already raided this person so I will try someone new" which is also a way of saying: "fuck you" to the people that do this.
If you want this to happen you will have to make it happen: discuss it with them beforehand and offer raid-for-raid.
Alternatively, this can be done via a non verbal agreement: raid someone a few times and turn your audience into theirs, and then next time you are streaming your audience will ask that streamer to raid you back because they also watch you.

not everyone is the same but demographics can still be narrowed down. if you want a certain type of person to give a shit about you then that makes them your target audience. if you're doing apex legends clickbait, you're getting the apex legends audience casual audience, which will likely include teens to young adults, majority male, etc its a rather specific example and going that deep is for businesses, but it applies here

Using that type of audience seeking for a stream is a bit fickle since its mostly dependent on how many people are going to be lurking those categories and then your charisma takes over from there. The example was more for videos since that's where most clickbait is. You can definitely make clickbait stream titles though, but that's harder with less viewers.
"fisting orphans" when referring to fighting the Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne is going to be less impactful at 5 viewers than at 50, as an example of that.

I'm one of those people to some extent. I've been on twitter for a long time so I know how the algorithm works. I've always been really good at networking and making a brand that people are interested in. I am just not a good streamer and I need to work on that.
the main difference between me and some of the Vtubers you described is that I still pull an decent amount of viewers, and that is because I don't target other Vtubers.
it's easy to grow a following on "Vtuber twitter" with a sprinkle of hating lolis, some png drops, "unpopular" opinions, posting fake dms, maybe even a skeb giveaway.
but you don't want that type of following. other Vtubers will never be your audience. it will never translate into viewers.

- 100 viewers 27th August (84 days after starting)
- 500 followers 31st August (88 days, 5.6 per day)

These figures are outrageous to me. I was getting maybe 1 per day for my first few months.

I feel like a LOT of vocal streamers are either the SUPER fast growth (like Ayuuchii), or super slow growth (saw someone on reddit say they'd been streaming 8 months and were on 45 followers).

So I have no idea where I'm currently at. I don't have that explosive growth, but I hit affiliate in ~1 month
