You can cite site-average metrics, but the actual children on Youtube that slant it that way on average are not going to be watching her - they're watching Pewdiepie or box opening vids and such (or maybe Gura if it's a chuuba). Youtube is a place with layers of populations that don't bump into each other much - most as in 95% of 12 year olds would want to watch her playing roblox than a strategy game or doing a zatsudan.

As was already posted here Twitch isn't like that and is basically incestuous as fuck with the userbase sharing, including the underage. When there is a big spiderweb of discoverability those same connections homogenize the population out over the platform, far far more than Youtube does. Toe me it seems like a combo of bad luck & lack of exposure. Some vtuber artists seem to get the impression that big buffy clothing with lots of doodads = better design as it's more eye-catching there in the corner than just a girl. Most of the fanbase seems to be in the Americas so the thread is usually fairly dead around these hours. For me it's 4 a.m. and I'm drifting in and out of sleep, but if people don't like her then whatever. I think her voice is cute, like her sense of humor, and have a good amount of overlap with her interests/media tastes so I like listening to her talk. I've spent a lot of my life battling thoughts of doomerism & can find a lot of her talk on that relatable & calming.

Now that I think of it, they might be doing it this way because of how their contract allows talents to keep the model if they leave so this is more complicated than I thought.
It is more forward thinking of them to create their own servers if possible in case they leave and want to keep their model in order to make the community transition easy.
