So this tweet story sent me down a rabbit hole about Uma Musume, the profession horse racing industry and it's ties to the Yakuza. It got me thinking about the Uma Musume arc that Hololive's been in the middle of recently.

How deep in is Cover, really? Is this really just a sponsorship or does the Yakuza have their tentacles in Hololive and the VTuber scene? Can anything be done about this?

That's not how criminal organizations operate. They target people who glorify their industry because it draws attention to them. Painting them as villains is usually seen as a good thing because it terrifies normies if they ever actually have to deal with them. Cartels in Mexico often target and murder musicians and other artists who try to normalize or glorify cartel life. It makes people respect them less if some grifter is making TV shows or music that makes cartels or yakuza seem like a normal profession.

Yakuza control pretty much anything entertainment related and almost everything construction related. Its been like that for about as long as WW2 has been over. Even now at their "weakest" they still control over 75% of the shit you consume from Japan.

I once read that during times of distress after natural disasters, they were more active in helping the people out than the government. Something of a "necessary evil" image that it gives them. Certainly better looking than the lives of those in gang-controlled cities in Guatamala or Mexico.

There's no such thing as ethical mobsters anon. Yakuza were just as violent as the cartels decades ago until the wormed their way into the entertainment industry. They make more money off JAVs, idols, and human trafficking than they did doing hits or selling drugs. That's the only difference really, if it was profitable they'd be just as violent as the cartels, but Japanese people have very little interest in drugs.

>> No.1669562

>>1669498
You have to remember that Yakuza still (unlike the cartels) have an extreme code of ethics and honor. Its so serious that killing civs is still seen as something that could end up with the murderer getting killed too. Mainly due to the fact that civilians are seen as "not part of this shit"

>>1669508
Japan has passed several heavy anti Yakuza laws in the past couple of years now and it lead to a lot of bosses and media companies being outed as Yakuza companies. Though since technically most didnt do anything wrong they wont get arrested AND also you have to actually find out WHO is in the Yakuza.

>Cartels in Mexico often target and murder musicians and other artists who try to normalize or glorify cartel life.
You are fucking retarded, it's quite the opposite, there is an entire sub-genre of music dedicated to glorifying the exploits of big shot cartel members and many members often """comission""" musicians to write songs about them, the violence comes from cartels killing musicians for making songs about rival cartels (or for banging a drug lord's ex-wife in the case of a particularly dumb singer)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcocorrido

As for TV, narconovelas are a huge cashcow for big networks and the fucking Chapo Guzman was caught was for using an unsecured phone to talk with a former narconovela actress to try to get her to convince her media contacts to make a movie about him

>While few, if any, arrests have been made in these cases, experts and musicians themselves say that the murders can be explained by many Mexican musicians’ proximity to drug traffickers.[28] Some speculate the killings could be related to romantic disputes and jealousy.[29] Others cite cases in which a musician has written a song praising or criticizing a drug trafficker; many assert that Valentín Elizalde's murder, for example, was related his song, "A Mis Enemigos", which some interpreted as an attack on the Gulf Cartel following its appearance in a widespread YouTube video.[30]

>Others have said they are afraid to sing narcocorridos in public for fear of offending the wrong person.[28] Likewise, some vendors of narcocorrido CDs have reported low sales, citing fear among listeners of buying a CD featuring songs favoring one group of traffickers over another.[28] The Zetas cartel has been known to torture and kill online and social media bloggers who speak about them. In one incident, the tortured and mutilated bodies of a man and a woman who had posted about cartels on social media were found hanging of a bridge in the city of Nuevo León, in September 2011. A sign stating, "This is going to happen to all the Internet busybodies", was found next to them signed with the letter Z.[33]

Nigger, the first part of your own greentext says how the problem is singing about the wrong person, and if you actually knew shit, you'd know that many cartels love that shit and some of them are smug enough to start playing corridos about themselves in police radio after a hit to brag.

The rest is unrelated stuff about social activists and peoole who criticized cartels on social media.

I mean, even the Yakuzas needs their meds because of their tradition.
The suppuku meme is really not that far from reality, the ones on the top TRUST any subordinate who betrays them or mess up will commit suicide instead of running away, same with those subordinates who TRUST the ones on top will also kill themselves if they ever bring disgrace to the gang.
Suicide is a culture so big in Japan that even the most "normal" person over there would have suicide as the main solution when shit goes south.
Unlike the western's ideas which prioritize individuality and hard work over image and community.

The ominous part is his second post which occurred the next day, implying he got a "visit" related to his tweet.
