DOOM: Repercussions of Evil in its entirety
John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway. John was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy..."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UAC he knew there were demons.
"This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!"
So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons
"I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The radio said "No, John. You are the demons"
And then John was a zombie.

High Windows
By Philip Larkin
When I see a couple of kids
And guess he’s fucking her and she’s
Taking pills or wearing a diaphragm,
I know this is paradise

Everyone old has dreamed of all their lives—
Bonds and gestures pushed to one side
Like an outdated combine harvester,
And everyone young going down the long slide

To happiness, endlessly. I wonder if
Anyone looked at me, forty years back,
And thought, That’ll be the life;
No God any more, or sweating in the dark

About hell and that, or having to hide
What you think of the priest. He
And his lot will all go down the long slide
Like free bloody birds. And immediately

Rather than words comes the thought of high windows:
The sun-comprehending glass,
And beyond it, the deep blue air, that shows
Nothing, and is nowhere, and is endless.

I've always wondered what's the point of joining a corp when you're at <100 views, but unless they're botting their debut streams are sitting at 60 views and already affiliated, so there's the perk of skipping 2view hell and having to shill themselves /here/, so there's that I guess.

Hello, /wvt/.
These will be my last questions. I have to start to really focus on doing my best as a vtuber and working on all the things I need to grow, at least enough to get where I want to be. That combined with my health stuff means I will be a bit too busy to read or post anymore, to a lot of places. But I wanted to take today to try and connect with you.

1) Do you think /wvt/ helped you connect with this hobby in any way? Did you feel more motivated? More inspired? Did you learn?
2) Do you miss anything from back when you first discovered vtubers or this board? Can you get it back?
3) Did anyone or any event have a big impact on you or change how you saw vtubing as a whole?
4) If you could make your own company, complete with theme and your choice of indies, what would you create?
5) Do you have any hopes for vtubing as a medium going forward? Are you just along for the ride?
6) Are you happy, /wvt/?

You can ask me something and I will try to respond to what I can. My DMs are open if you need me but after today I must say abayo, /wvt/. Thank you for letting me try to liven up the threads for the months I have been here. I reckon it must have been annoying seeing all my posts fill the thread so I really appreciate you for it.

1. Yes, I would have never run into the group associated with here if I wasn't posted, and I'm happy that happened. There's so many nice and fun and interesting people doing this, I'll remember that forever.
2. Not really, I didn't know it existed until I was linked.

6. Absolutely.

1 - It gave me the push to get started but the longer I stuck around the more I hated the pointless drama.
2 - I missed the sense of wonder before I figured out everything. I was discovering new chuubas each day and they'd have their own fun gimmicks and styles. That's no longer the case.
3 - The graduation of my oshi.
4 - I wouldn't. Agencies are bad and only add to liability. There would be too much push to try and be over produced for the sake of profits and the priority to make good content would be lost to sponsorships.
5 - It'll survive the same way face cam streaming survives. As another form of online entertainment. It's already hit the hardcap and I don't see it going beyond what you see here. Some chuubas with the money will have a new gimmick or fresh take on something but it'll still just be streaming.
6 - No. I stopped being happy back in 2013.

It's good to see you wanting to work on yourself more, so I fully support what you're planning. It was nice hearing your speak from the heart in your anniversary stream. I could relate to some of it. Very happy for you, and I wish you well.

>1) Do you think /wvt/ helped you connect with this hobby in any way? Did you feel more motivated? More inspired? Did you learn?
Early on, yes. It was fun to see how connected everyone could become, how everyone would support and motivate each other. I couldn't ever really muster the strength to do it myself, but seeing others gain strength from it made me consider that maybe I could too, eventually. Not so much recently, at least not from the threads themselves.
>2) Do you miss anything from back when you first discovered vtubers or this board? Can you get it back?
When it felt fresh and new it was always fun finding someone new, but at this point I just don't have as much time or energy to find or watch anyone new anymore. It's still nice helping others find someone, or just seeing someone find someone I know and enjoying them.
>3) Did anyone or any event have a big impact on you or change how you saw vtubing as a whole?
Not a singular stream I guess. Seeing the effect kudoboards had on some chuubas was heartening. Just watching people get together and say nice things and make stuff for someone for a special occasion. It's hard to describe exactly, but I enjoyed those moments.
>5) Do you have any hopes for vtubing as a medium going forward? Are you just along for the ride?
I used to hope for more advancements to be made towards VR back when Kizuna Ai was new, but considering tech isn't really getting any more interesting as far as vtubing goes I have far more modest expectations. I'd like vtubers to break out of the game/art/karaoke mold and start doing things they are genuinely passionate about, no matter how niche. Vtubing has often shown itself to be a nice medium for sharing hobbies and as a cultural exchange. Other than that I'm mostly along for the ride.
>6) Are you happy, /wvt/?
Not as much recently. To be honest the threads have made me less happy than they used to. Both of them, but mostly the other one. Seeing people I like contribute to this is also mildly depressing, so I found I was happier just creating more of a distance. I spent the past year caring too much, and I really think it's time to stop. Aside from that life is just not working out. I should focus more on that.

I'm not much good at questions myself.. Do you think there's a particular standard in vtubing that isn't often being met, or some taboos that are broken more often than upheld?

Wish you all the best, alium. It was nice having you around.

1. /wvt/ kept me entertained in times of severe boredom and for that i am grateful. I did feel inspired by some posts and demotivated by others. I learned to let that go. I also let go of my obsession for wanting to be secretly talked about here.
2. This place used to be alot more lively and cozy now it feels a bit like a husk to me. I was never really in the cool kids club because i refused to selfpost and thus i felt like many chuubas were sceptical of me. You not included though. You have always been nice to me.
3. The whole face reveal arc showed that alot of vtubers weren't on the same page as me. Also all the cancel/witch hunts changed my way of seeing vtubing for good. But i have learned to not care for these things. Life is too short to worry about nonsense like people breaking immersion. Hell maybe i will cosplay cute characters someday.
4.That's a tough one.Maybe a five member group thats also a band and together actually makes neat music. Maybe they're all males or females and play games and chat too when they're not jamming.
5.My hopes? honestly normies havent seemed to be able to succesfully destroy vtubing so i am happy. Let's see where it takes us all, i just hope everyone will have fun. Including the train wagon folks.
6. I'm pretty happy. I like to think so, i also suffer plenty and i don't have control over my stupid emotions anymore. Must be hormonal imbalance or just the cortisol.. But i've gotten much further than i expected. I expected nothing, i have been at nothing for so so long. But now i am grateful.

Kind of got me in the feels, anon, I did not expect to sort of tear up when the realization of what you said hit me. Thank you.

>What does vtubing mean to you?
Hm. I guess to me it means being able to connect with people. This is/was the only reason I have people to really interact with in years, so I sort of see it as a portal to another world, or a space I felt like I was blocked off from for a long time. It lets me spend time with people and find ways to entertain them and maybe make them happy, too. Like an ouroboros, maybe.
There's also the concept of just being able to be creative! Being creative and finding a way to share it! That is something I valued most.

It’s sad to see you go, lil alien. I feel like the non-holo threads have been dying recently, and your departure is a signifier if that.
1. I would have quit a long time ago without this place. It is the first time I was a part of a community that was genuinely passionate about something, and without the people I’ve met through /asp/ and /wvt/, I would never have the confidence to go through with starting a channel and getting things working.
2. I miss the initial sense of wonder before following the idol blueprint became laughed at. Also, knowing how the sausage is made honestly makes it really hard to have an oshi. I hope to see something similar to HoloEN come up where the chuubas are actually really invested in the dream and make this something more than just gaming and singing and being cute.
3. Nijimales made me realise that chuuba viewers are more interested in good looking and good sounding characters and that this area is not as much about exploring how far we can take pretending to be a 2D character as I though. Basically, keyfabe and acting mattered a lot less than I hoped it would.
4. I’d make a lore-oriented company with something like Total Drama Island - a setting where characters are forced into situations by the management and have to react in character.
5. Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like vtubing peaked and the existing players are too comfortable. There’s not much influx of new fans. I think that there is potential for quick and cheap animated content that is not being explored. Also, I feel like a lot of newer chuubas do this ironically, which robs the medium of its magic. I’ll keep on trucking until I’m utterly convinced I have no place here as a successful character.
6. I’m happier than I was when I started, but I’m wary of the toil ahead. The dream turned out to be just another job.

Oh how I miss unity threads. I miss them so much. They were undeniable proof of our camaraderie with each other. I know the word nakama is sort of weeby but I felt a definite kinship with everyone during those periods that still makes me happy looking back.
I feel the same re:finding people. I even had to cut back on watching people I love who stream at bad times for me when I used to try to stay up all night and day to watch who I liked.
>I'd like vtubers to [...] start doing things they are genuinely passionate about, no matter how niche.
That is something I really like about our community. It seems like a lot of people honestly do things they enjoy and there are always interesting streams going on. It makes me happy and there is always something new and interesting to watch.
>I spent the past year caring too much, and I really think it's time to stop
I am sorry you are hitting that point. That is close to how I felt from June to October, wanting to help and not knowing how and caring too much. It feels bad, but you might have to keep that distance for however long you need.

>Do you think there's a particular standard in vtubing that isn't often being met, or some taboos that are broken more often than upheld?
Hmm. I might not be the best person to ask this, since I just see vtubing as a type of streaming and I know nothing about corporate vtuber world and what standards are normal there. There are not really any big standards or taboos in the normal streaming world! You just watch who you think is cool!

Thank you, anon, for your kindness and for answering this in so much detail. It has been a pleasure talking with everyone and learning so much about this hobby!

Hi ayylium. I understand why you're leaving, but I'll miss you and your questions. I'll try my best to be more active during your streams. It's fun talking with you. You and your questions are certainly not annoying

>1
It showed me a lot of small chuubas I wouldn't have found otherwise, and lets me discuss things anonymously which I've always preferred. I'm pretty good at filtering out schizo talk so I think overall it's been a good help.
>2
I miss how small and untapped it was, but that's the natural progression with these things so I'm not terribly bummed by it.
>3
Nobody in particular, just indies in general.
>4
Business tacticool, like a mercenary company.
>5
I think the bubble will pop eventually, but it'll settle into simply being a form of streaming just like cam streaming.
>6
Overall yes. Certainly more than I was before I found all this.

Is there some kind of art or drawing you'd like to see of yourself? I'm a shitty artist but maybe one day I can try my hand at it and reveal myself as a despicable 4chan weirdo.
Thanks for all your hard work.

1) yes, i would have stayed in Holohell if not for wvt and Ive been mostly happy for all its given me. Even if Im not a fan of the current state of things
2) I miss being able to have conversations with people that I otherwise wouldnt talk to. Theyre mostly gone now. I also miss being able to have fun when people shitposted by playing off of it... its not really enjoyable when they pile on with the same talking points.
3) Maybe seeing everyone try so hard despite their problems made me view it as a two way relationship where I give support and receive entertainment and a small amount of recognition in return. With Holos, they felt like they had mostly left the problems in their past lives. Its nice to feel like youre doing something worthwhile.
4) A company sounds like an awful lot but probably something robot girl themed. Theres not much out there that looks like a weird first gen android. You could do so many cool things with the model too.
5) just along for the ride mostly, but I hope 2d gets to the point that its nearly 3d or 3d becomes so good that it can be stylized and used as if it was a 2d model.
6) Content!

;-; anon... I am glad you no longer let that bother you. I really miss how cozy it was. I hope we can at least maybe have a cozy front desk now. Maybe.
Ah, I missed a lot of those events because I am very touch and go with social media. I did not realize they were so common. YEAH! Life is too short! Go outside and roll around in the cold grass and only check social media when you talk about clowns!
>Maybe a five member group thats also a band and together actually makes neat music.
I am honestly surprised a vtuber music group does not already exist. Imagine if The Gorillaz were vtubers.
I am glad you are happy, anon. Hormones suck, but keep pushing through.

God, this spoke to me. I feel the exact same way.

>Do you need any help with anything? You often seem worried. If you ever need help i will try to help you. You're a good person in my eyes
You are so nice... I need help with many things but I am too prideful to ask and too shameful to admit it. I am a bit of a stressy bessy, but I am going to try to work on it and get better at not letting myself get so overwhelmed. The first step of that is asking for help when I need it, so I will try. It's funny, I think I have the opposite feeling. I feel like I can just start talking in a relatively-but-not-super large chat like Nina or Moriko's since everyone's just talking. But with a smaller vtuber it feels like I'm barging in on a small group of friends.

>2
I really miss how connected the thread was on a usual basis... things like the carmine gauntlet and unity day come to mind but it feels like those kind of moments are long gone... even cbt didn't get a lot of discussion in this thread, but the dedicated thread it had kinda brought that feeling back. I think its possible for those feelings and moments to return but it'll take more than a few dedicated posters to do so.
>3
I've always seen a lot of potential in vtubing so I don't think I can think of one that really change my perspective on things. There have been projects that have made me really excited about what can be done in the future; namely the VTuber choir and with how live online karaoke collabs have been figured out, I'm excited at the prospect of a live VTuber musical
>4
A corpo? probably not but a group sounds like a fun idea but I dan't say I have any ideas for what I'd want to make... maybe a bro idol group

I'm along for the ride, but I am excited to see what new possibilities arise in the future. People have been getting pretty wild with model tech and other plugins so it'll be neat to see where it goes from there.

>Do you think /wvt/ helped you connect with this hobby in any way? Did you feel more motivated? More inspired? Did you learn?
I dunno about the hobby itself but I feel like this is a nice little community we got here at least. If nothing else it feels more like a home than most of the board.
>Do you miss anything from back when you first discovered vtubers or this board? Can you get it back?
I kinda miss the mystique of when it first began and it felt like more than just "streaming and/or idolLARP with an anime avatar" but at the same time I can't say I want it back, I prefer it this way. Lets people be more comfortable than a facecam ever would, I think there's a lot of truth to that statement that you're your most honest when you've got a mask on.
>Did anyone or any event have a big impact on you or change how you saw vtubing as a whole?
Not anyone or any particular event, just the gradual shift away from kizuna ai/kaguya luna style videos to more hololive/nijisanji style streaming made me slowly come to think of it less as a weird marketing thing and more as an alternative way for people to get themselves out there.
>If you could make your own company, complete with theme and your choice of indies, what would you create?
Can't really answer that one well since I'm not a huge fan of companies (I know it's been a year but the whole magnet thing still leaves a sour taste in my mouth)
>Do you have any hopes for vtubing as a medium going forward? Are you just along for the ride?
I'm absolutely just along for the ride but I guess I hope more people take it up as a way to be more comfortable with themselves (even if they aren't being themselves... hopefully you get what I mean)
>Are you happy, /wvt/?
life threw me a curveball recently but I think I got it sorted out so yeah

>Thank you for letting me try to liven up the threads for the months I have been here. I reckon it must have been annoying seeing all my posts fill the thread so I really appreciate you for it.
I wish I could say "it's not annoying, I always enjoy seeing your posts" but I know I have a bad habit of being wracked with self-doubt and thinking I'm a nuisance dragging down any community I'm in so I'm the last person that should be offering that kind of reassurance. But, I'll offer it anyway. It's been nice seeing you around. Don't be a stranger.

Invested in the dream... I sort of feel that wonder when I watch indies, honestly. Especially when I find a new one and they are so excited to talk about what they love. It makes my heart swell. I might not get it, but that is how it feels to me.
>Nijimales made me realise that chuuba viewers are more interested in good looking and good sounding characters
Aaah... Sometimes, I think about how things could be different if maybe I got a model commissioned and all those professional assets and skebs and such. But a business works the way a business works, I suppose.
I would not join your company, but I would watch every single episode.

Kinda. It definitely inspired me to reach out of my bubble and to take risks, haters be damned.

>2) Do you miss anything from back when you first discovered vtubers or this board? Can you get it back?
I missed the Aria Hoshi era. I came /here/ after she left a long time ago and she seemed like a nice person.

>3) Did anyone or any event have a big impact on you or change how you saw vtubing as a whole?
Don't wanna say...

>4) If you could make your own company, complete with theme and your choice of indies, what would you create?
A group of urban kemonimimi punks all designed by terada tera and they mainly collab with each other and a few select outsiders. I'm not too fond of companies, to be frank.

>5) Do you have any hopes for vtubing as a medium going forward? Are you just along for the ride?
I'm in for the ride. I just hope it's a long haul.

Thank you for these questions, I always enjoyed answering TigerQuestion anon and missed him when he vanished, I was really happen when I saw you had continued his work.
>1) Do you think /wvt/ helped you connect with this hobby in any way? Did you feel more motivated? More inspired? Did you learn?
Yeah! I feel without /wvt/ I never would have became a vtuber in the first place, I think being able to be in the same area as lot of fellow vtubers really helped me get to know what all the others were doing, and already I can say I've been inspired by people I'd have never met if not for the threads, as for learning I sure have learned a lot about many different things since there are so many passionate chuubas each gladly telling others about their interests.
>2) Do you miss anything from back when you first discovered vtubers or this board? Can you get it back?
I can't really recall when I did discover vtubers since it has been a while, and often I'd just forget about them and get busy with something else. I guess I can count the time when it really stuck with me was when I was watching clips on /wsg/ along with reading the indie thread on /jp/ which slowly caused me to check out hololive and niji clips. Then after I saw the holo EN debuts live and knew I'd be watching vtubers for a while which wow that certainly is true, there's this one let's play channel I was really in to right before holoEN started and I've only now started watching her again. So I guess what I miss sometimes is the newness of it but that doesn't make familiarity bad. As for finding this board I was having a ton of fun binging the global threads made right when this board got made their reactions were priceless.
>3) Did anyone or any event have a big impact on you or change how you saw vtubing as a whole?
I think seeing other indies have fun with it was what really drove me to have that random impulse to go two miles and spend the last of my cash on a mic so I could stream.
>4) If you could make your own company, complete with theme and your choice of indies, what would you create?
I think a group focused on reading would be interesting each of them doing a different medium or genre, all themed around what kind of thing they read.
>5) Do you have any hopes for vtubing as a medium going forward? Are you just along for the ride?
I think my hopes are seeing more people with my tastes getting into vtubing since it's started out from a very narrow subset of people due to it being popularized in the west by HoloLive.
>6) Are you happy, /wvt/?
Yes, and I can thank vtubers and vtubing for that, it really did help me get out of rut.
>I reckon it must have been annoying seeing all my posts fill the thread so I really appreciate you for it.
It was never annoying because they really were good questions, I still had fond memories of that one time you posted that nonsensical mess of questions because you had stayed up too late.
As for my question what was your favorite question to ask?

Thank you for answering them! I was worried I might be bothering others by picking up the ritual, but I am glad people enjoyed them and maybe tigerposter or I or someone else can continue them when it is needed!

I am glad you become a vtuber! All of this has just been really motivating and inspiring in a wonderful way. I never had experience with the global threads but I can imagine the exodus was super exciting when everything was new.
>I think a group focused on reading would be interesting each of them doing a different medium or genre, all themed around what kind of thing they read.
My dream... a school of cute vtubers who all specialize in certain reading subjects....

>I still had fond memories of that one time you posted that nonsensical mess of questions because you had stayed up too late.
Oh no I do not remember this.
>As for my question what was your favorite question to ask?
Ehehehehehehe, I liked asking people's favorite songs so I could get free song suggestions. Ehehehehe. But also the anon check in. I like hearing people are doing well.

>>17306993
Oh gosh, I stopped having other hobbies. I need to find a vtuber-to-"the rest of my life" balance.

>"getting to connect with people who are similar to you but you'd never actually encounter.
This genuinely makes me so sosososo happy! That is what I am hoping to do with what I do, and what I hope to get from the people who watch me! Thank you, I am so giddy.

If you watch movies, grab me! I want to watch bad movies after all the streams pitter out.

this is going to sound bad but I want to say it
>1
I wouldn't say connected more like it changed my perspective, it made me pick an eye out to watch.
learned something about myself but as time passes I am starting to realize that I am not interested in streams or vtubers anymore, or at the very least not as much as before by a big margin.
it also made me realize that I am not made for online communities I am way too passive for them and I don't have the drive for talking to new people.
>2
I don't think that I will get it back but my interest in the medium.
>3
the first few koopa streams did something to me, that being making me interested in other indies.
>4
I have nothing, I don't care about that.
>5
along for the ride, I guess but not that much in it right now
>6
I need to do something for me to truly feel happy but I am hanging in there.

That is fair. Losing interest in hobbies and moving on to others is normal, anon. I have been in various online communities as a lurker for most of my life so I do understand that. You should find something that makes that fire in your heart flare up! Is anything happened to make it go out, or you just slowly lose interest? I think the... hmm... commification of certain places also makes involving one's self less attractive as well. Like, let us say I join a book club. I only really go to the club once a month to discuss the book, but I find out the members are all going to parties and book signings between club meetings and having discord groups without me, I would lose interest. So if that is the case, I do understand. It makes me sad, but I do understand.
They are not lame, and no need to be sorry. It is okay. These feelings are fine, too.

What does being in love with your entertainer do anyways? When most people think of that they think of a annoying needy fan, or maybe a fan who gets groomed into thinking being spit on is okay because its from a famous celebrity. I think that's the idea that comes to mind for most people.
But being in love with my chuuba just lets them entertain me better. I feel a bit happier whenever she does a funny bit because I'm also in love with them. I don't want to stop loving my chuuba.
