In addition to this, the "Yagoo" name itself is OLD. The origin of the name was a mispronunciation of 谷 (tani) of "Tanigo" in his name by Subaru.
All he did was change his twitter name to "Yagoo".
Everything else was from the talents and fans themselves, the four legged Yagoo, the "Sad Yagoo" which later became a minecraft structure, AKB48 interview, Sanrio pic, "Save me Yagoo" pic, "choking Yagoo" pic, the baseball thr there's just so much community built shit for Yagoo.
Also, most of the talents badmouth Yagoo all the time, as a representation of their frustrations of the company. He takes it all in good humor, and so fans find it cute.

I'm aware that such a thing existed, but that it also never really spread to EN for the most part. Before you go pulling any nonsense, the fact that Kuzuha's song numbers dried the fuck up once SEA+JP went to sleep is enough indication that the wider NijiJP watching fanbase is mostly ESL SEA for EN speakers, and that for the most part Nijisanji didn't have a significant foothold in NA prior to NijiEN's proper formation. That, unfortunately, is the result of several circumstances, but it is what it is.
