nah, you want to sidechain duck too, since your kick isnt going to be in phase all the time when the bass is moving around. you also don't want your kick and bass summing to make huge peaks that cause issues at the mastering stage. the more stuff you handle in the mix, especially peaky transients, the easier it'll be to master.
when you sidechain your sub, dont use a compressor, use a volume ducker, and avoid multiband ducking because multiband causes phase shifts at the crossovers.
now those crossover phase shifts aren't a huge problem if you have a higher crossover, since the time delay caused by phase shift is inversely related to frequency (low frequency phase shift->longer delay, high freq phase shift->shorter delay). i just avoid it so i can avoid the kick and sub summing into one big peak that requires squashing.
does that make sense? i can clear anything up if you got questions
i also avoid high passing at low frequencies as much as i can because lp and hp cause 180 degree phase shifts at the cutoffs, but sometimes it is necessary. when i have to do it, i'll usually use a shallower slope and set the cutoff higher since shallower slopes cause less phase shift. you can verify this all in plugin doctor. you'd think that linear phase gets rid of this problem, but the pre ringing at lower frequencies is louder and lasts longer, so i avoid that at low frequencies too.

This post is clearly written to be emotionally manupliative to try and make holobass the good guy. Which would be wrong because he's completly not in the right. The I could strike ame down wasn't some funny hands off joke, it was a threat that he could copyright strike her charity stream for playing something iirc he had questionable "ownership" of in the first place. It depends on the company's policy on fan content. In cover's case they forbid the unauthorized monetization of content which uses cover assets such as clips of Ame's voice. If his song was just about Ame but did not use her voice then he would not be bound by that rule. But since pop on rocks is a song which heavily used Ame's voice clips as the basis of the song, he has no rights to monetize without authorization.
