My personal hangup with male vtubers is that there are several better male streamers who are outside the general vtuber sphere, while when it comes to female streamers, vtubers are the overall top.

Male streamers product actual content, or at the very least display it and talk about the content. You can cover their face and the content stays the same whether they're a person or a vtuber model

Female streamers only have the appeal of being female and they are less gratuitous about this glaring fact when they're covered by a vtuber model, which is pretty much the only time they can produce or display engaging content without making it about themselves
