Magic the gathering, it's gone without lore-breaking crossovers for decades, but now they're going for the consoomer route with pop culture events like Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, etc. Apparently they sell really well so there's no incentive for them to stop.

They had a 5 year goal to double their revenue, and they reached it 2 years ahead of their target. As someone who appreciated the world building that had gone on before that time, I ended up being displaced by people who don't really care for it but like the pop culture stuff.

I can imagine the fans of the Hololive crossover game could feel the same way, especially if this ends up being successful and opens the gates up to more events which contradict the original vision of the game's world.
