I'm still basically an EOP despite having been trying to learn japanese for well over a year. I can read manga okay if I have a dictionary for the kanji I don't know but my brain can't seem to get the hang of listening. I feel like I should be able to understand more as I recognise a lot of what's being said but very little ever makes sense unless it's really simple or there's enough contextual clues to help, and even then it takes too long for my brain to put the pieces together and I struggle to keep up. I've rarely watched streams, and that was only when I was board. I've just been following this board since it was created just because all the rrats and shitposts are fun. I don't care about vtubers at all.

Yet for some reason I feel upset about this hobby being overrun by normalfags. It seems a lot of people here are really passionate about their oshis. V-tubing is about to reach the turning point in the "degradation of a hobby" timeline. Normalfaggotry is going to infest every corner of it (as if it already hasn't) and vtubers are just going to be no different from your typical western flesh whore streaming. Going mainstream will take away everything that made vtubers special like idol culture.

I've tried to get into streaming before, never made much of an audience, but stopped after I realized just how terrible the top streamers are. Some of the top vtubers, on the other hand, seemed quite humble and grateful for their audience. But I've guessed that's changed. The Niji discord yab and Mori getting a record label had set the nail in the coffin that the top vtubers are just numberfags like the top flesh streamers. And now I absolutely hate everything about streaming. I feel like this has killed any hope of me just being able to just stream my vidya and make people laugh - as long as I had at least a small audience I would not care. But literally everyone in this hobby is a career-driven numberfag now. Since a good chunk of streamer's incomes come from other people's disposable income, I hope the economy crashes and people don't have enough money to give to their favorite streamers.
