Is Mori part of universal emi, universal Japan, under the big big universal deal that everyone says is a huge deal? I don’t understand. Is it a big deal she’s signed or not basically . Will we see mainstream collabs with big artist like kayne?

>> No.21987865

kanye isnt big in japan. if they market in the west maybe shit like that will happen

She is part of Universal Japan under the EMI Records label. The Japanese version.
https://www.universal-music.co.jp/mori-calliope/
If you scroll down on the above page at the bottom left it shows her label.
https://www.universal-music.co.jp/artists/?l=emi-records
And on this page it shows who else is signed to that label.

music labels dont mean anything today. music charts dont show any reality either. nobody knows of most of those in the charts.

A Kanye Collab isn't happening unless Kanye wants to make it happen. He's a weeb, but he's not vtuber tier deep. You'll probably just see collabs with other JP signed artists at her level.

Personally, I think it's just the usual deal:
> We give you an advance (money)
> You have access to people under our label (legal, producers, other artists, marketing, studios)
> You make an album in X amount time
> We promote it
> You pay us back and we split profits
> We also get your masters
Let's hope that last one doesn't bite her in ass. Probably shouldn't hurt as she doesn't own her character anyways.

Isn't this basically Cover licensing Calliope Mori to Universal more than her signing? They are buying the right to her music using cover's character.

It's hard to know what she's really on the hook for. Selling music for a character she doesn't own

It's a job and she has to eat and I figure she likes being out there

>> No.21990987

>>21987810
It just means all her music will be taken down thanks to universal's copyright abuse system, even when she sings her own songs

>> No.21992265

>>21990885
I'd bet it's not even about the money. Mori is a musician and it's prestigious to be signed to a big label, it legitimizes her. It's a nice feather to have in your cap, something she can refer to for her career going forward (not publicly obviously, but in future deals and negotiations). Cover also probably figures it'll keep her happy and engaged with being Mori for a few more years, which is a good thing for them because her roommate's EP in the winter was a big warning sign.

>> No.21992481

>>21992265
Yeah she likes being out there I know. It's still a job and regardless of what she's getting paid it's still a job, for a company that didn't watch her grow, or have any direct involement in her success, but getting one good project down is obviously going to be beyond helpful if everything else around her crashes and burns without her causing it.

>can barely deal with the non-pressure of fans on the internet and the utterly trivial restrictions of hololive

holy lmao I hope she spent a fuckload on the entertainment lawyer she definitely hired to read the contract for her

Her roommate has zero say.
But like >>21992265 says it's more about prestige.

Mori got 2M famous. Not dice. (though to be honest I don't know how many subs dice had before)
