Staff who are in charge of their socials/managers have limited time and social media is absolutely vast. It tells them what sites they should prioritize if they're checking for reactions to recent content or news.
More importantly it tells them what advertising attempts have been successful. If a lot of people are coming from Twitter, then they should keep up their Twitter posts. If nobody is coming from Reddit, then there isn't a lot of benefit form posting there. I don't think there's a ton of actual shills /here/. I don't even think they have active shills regularly posting. But I do think they've had people post shilling in the past and they want to know if it worked.

okay, the advertising focus thing I can understand (that is, not wasting money advertising on underperforming platforms that don't get you much traffic anyways), even though I never see any ads anyway, Akio or otherwise, because I have always adblock on (found the girls by coincidence just because their debut streams randomly popped up in my youtube recommendeds a few weeks ago).

But I'm still kinda at loss what they can do with the information that maybe possibly a lot of their viewers are channers. It's not like they could directly advertise here, and as for shillposting, while the thought is funny that some poor taiwanese intern has to keep up tabs on a 4chan thread and is ordered to post "I WANT TO SMELL MEWS CUNT" occasionally to bump it before it vanishes, I don't think this is happening.

Not a statistician but I would imagine they will send out a similar survey in the future to see how the numbers have changed. If they see now that 40 people learned about the talents from 4ch and then in a few months see 100 people, that’s a sign of growth. just joking with you, but hey, being skeptical is not a bad thing (I still think AA should fix the various remaining 404's on their fucking website finally, it's frankly not a good look). As for them being a scam or whatever, with their relatively long phase between founding as a new company / opening auditions (about a year ago) and now finally actually debuting actual vtubers recently, it was not that unreasonable for many people to become sus of them wondering as some kind of vaporware non-starter.
It's too early to make calls about their long term stable survival, especially still in the honeymoon period. What I can say is that they did at least enough of their homework right to establish a solid "higher than 50, lower than 100" average ccv, which seems to be about the usual standard for respectable small corpo startups (barring a few individual standout talents who have managed to climbed over the >100 view wall consistently), so AA slotting into that tier right out of the gate where other companies are that have been doing this for way longer is bretty gud (I've seen other corpos, who are so fail they don't even get discussed here, stream to single digit audiences, so it's good that that fate seems to be avoided).
Personally, I hope the next step is to network and develop more connections to the wider landscape. External collabs with other people. It's kind of a necessity for the smaller guys, you're not Hololive who can get away with it's walled garden captive ecosystem approach because it already has both the number chubas and most importantly the massive fanbase to get away with not needing external collabs anymore, for everyone else it's much less of a choice.

From a cynical business perspective I'd say the best thing would probably be to "leech" from the standout talents of each agency (for example Miori/Tsunderia, Shiki/Prism, Nene/Kawaii) for maximum effect.

Realistically though the most viable thing is to let it develop naturally and bring talents together that actually want to do something together, that fit with each other and have a compatible vibe. Doesn't really matter how much clout they have.
