Great set of streams, one of the big reasons as to why I love Pekora is that she plays a variety of games and she almost always finishes them once she picks them up.

The horse is very intentionally hard to control. You're not just holding the stick forward to control a videogame horse, you're directing the horse from Wander's perspective. It's unique and hard to get used to at first but feels great when you master it.

I honestly thought that she didn't spend as much time playing the game to develop an attachment to Agro as we all did back then, first of all, Agro was the most advanced horse you could control and interact with, and you form a direct bond with her as you explore the map, specially if you make a big jump by mistake or on purpose and see how her leg gets hurt by your own hand, as well as using her for actual combat increases that bond, thing that Pekora was unknowingly avoiding by dismounting Agro to keep her safe lmao
In short, Pekora didn't get the full experience, but it's not really her fault, she went directly at the colossi which made for a well paced stream, going for more side-stuff would have stagnated a live stream format.
And she was really happy to see that Agro was mostly alright after all. What a horse

Replicant is the one with the brother, so if you want as similar an experience as possible, play that. Until the remake comes out's only in Japanese, so if you don't know Japanese obviously play the one with papa Nier. If neither of those things matter, just choose whichever you think sounds more interesting, a brother and his sister or a dad and his daughter. There's some awkwardness with papa Nier because the game was written with a teenager MC in mind but it really bothered me.

These DQB2 streams are so comfy. Honestly so far each and every Island's theme has made a mark in my memory, like I'll never forget Magiro and the whole tree shit, nor will I never forget the almost perfect parallel with Pero and Peko with how she is treated as a goddess that everyone wants and is a bunny girl, you build a bar, the idol parallels.

It's actually a thing I think about pretty often. In my humble opinion, the biggest incoming event of interest decrease is when people will experience the full life cycle of a vtuber. Not sure if everyone's realizing this, but.. nothing can go on forever. And after losing an oshi once, many people won't seek another one, dropping the whole thing.
Aside from that, I agree that vtubers are going to stay around in general. It's just works well. I don't know what "fluent" means, as learning never really ends even after many years of living in Japan. Let's speak about JLPT as a formal criteria.
Spending one whole year in a very good language school in Japan + doing baito with additional learning experience and nail N1 as result - is considered insanely fast and difficult, but still considered to be "doable". People who actually have N1 certificates are usually very proud if they got it in 2-3 years of rather intensive studying.
I'm personally already around 3 years (with some breaks) in and N1 for me is still as far as moon. When it comes to listening, I'm at mercy of Pekora. She can talk very fast so I can't keep up.

This is all you need to learn the Kana. Just keep repeating one column until you have it down, then add another. Hiragana is much easier than Katakana, but Katakana is still simple enough. Just do it for an hour and you'll be amazed at how quickly you absorb it. Learning the characters is all about rote memorization. If you need some little mnemonic for some characters then create one. Incorporate Hololive names into them if you have trouble remembering. I remember having trouble with ネ for some reason so I said it's the Eye of Nene. It took me a month to learn all the hiragana with Duolingo then I got through katakana in 2 days with this.

My next step from Anki grind was reading tweets, lucky for you and me Pekora always do her twitter poems which was a great start for me to get into reading, at first it is going to be rough but stick with it and you'll start to get accustomed to reading and they are also a great source of mining material and understanding them is also fun.
After that I started reading the Nousagi's post-stream impression tweets that they always tweet out on the #ぺこらいぶ tag. This was especially helpful because those tweets are generally more formally written with less slang and every tweet is roughly the same meaning you can get a lot of tweets with the same subject but with slight variations.
Then once you feel even more confident you can start playing a VN or a game or anything in Japanese and continue to practice from there.
The later DQ games all come with furigana as well which is a complete boon in terms of picking out kanji you don't recognize(The earlier ones are hiragana hell, so watch out for those).

And of course like the other anon said, listen to shit, listen to Pekora, listen to podcasts in Japanese and most things you can find to train your listening comprehension. Little by little you are going to grow accustomed to it even if you don't feel it in real-time.
Of course you should never give up on your reps because they are always going to be helpful even if it is a real grind.

Yeah, I had that problem with kanji several years ago and burned out. I've since taken up doing the recognition RTK deck, but it feels like I'm both learning and not learning at the same time; I learn the implied and associated meanings, but not actually any words.
