Driving requires memorizing so many road rules and constantly being mindful of everything around you and trying not to die every second that you're behind the wheel. Fuck driving, it's too stressful.

Driving in Japan is pretty rare. If you're cityfolk you have amazing public transit. If you're country, everything's in scooter/walking distance and you take the rare train when it isn't.

Even in Europe unless you're in a major city a car is almost a must. Public transport can only take you so far, and in many cases I've lived in areas that were so poorly served (or in the case of the UK, poorly served and massively overpriced) that a car worked out the only way to get to work on time
