3, Gamers, and Myth are all really strong generations all things considered. For the latter I had very low expectations for a Hololive English but they were blown out of the water.

Easy, Gen 3 was the first real "Business-centric" generation where every member was selected for their skill in extracting wealth from gachikois. Before then it was mostly individual hiring and nepotism, wherein girls like Korone and Miko didn't audition and were just added. (Not that they were misses, I'm just saying)

Gen 3 was the firs set hired when Hololive actually started to gain traction, and thus they got their pick of the best money vacuums they could find. Even then it wasn't perfect, Flare never took off like the other 4 and basically subsists on being Noel's +1.

I agree that gen3 is the most successful, while gen1 has the strongest idol that ever was or will be; but HoloEN Myth is pretty strong as well. I know they were lucky to grt the best boost possible due to the pandemic, and the five of them aren't as close as gens like holo5, but their variety definitely helped in capturing different people all around: a heavyhitter musician, a memelord, a comfy artist, a gamer and a literal bitch who at least knows how to get that sc money.

All of them had first-rate resumes going into the job except Rushia, and Rushia's resume being weaker (not by much though) compared to the rest of her gen was not a problem because Rushia herself had other qualities that made up for that.

sub count doesn't matter, she's ninth for superchat numbers. all of the other holo's sub counts are inflated by EOPs. Flare's isn't so it's obviously going to be lower. she has practically the same amount of JP viewership as her genmates.
