Can anyone familiar with 3D explain why vtuber 3D models cost 10k USD each? I've heard that it takes a whole month to create one, is this true or bs? I've seen a pro on YT create fanmade Gura 3D model in like a day although it was not as high quality as the official one but how would that whole process stretch from few days work to being full month's worth of work?

Well, I would guess the #1 reason would be that it's kind of a small niche that only a handful of people can do well, so you're paying for the rarity of the skillset as much as anything else. But it does seem to be somewhat labor intensive. The artist has to draw a lot of little separate parts for it to be able to be rigged properly, and then your rigger has to actually set everything up so it moves smoothly though I have no idea how that part works really. Usually you're paying two different people as well though maybe some artists can also rig for you which might bring the cost down a bit compared to needing to commission two separate people.
