This explains too why she cancelled that stream over not having a translator.
I'm thinking back to the peak EOP pandering era of Hololive like 2 years ago and i think this was a common fear for many of them, being that they couldn't communicate effectively to their overseas audience and also the more English they use the more they could alienate their main JOP audience.
So how would you know if they're losing interest and why? Should you play things that may appeal more to them but not so much for the JOP audience?
I talked recently in one of these threads about how this bilingual streaming is a tough balancing act.
For Holos they just realized that the EOP audience was mostly a saviour audience that would get them more japanese audience due to algorithm recommendations (which was true) and most of the EOP were completely just fine with minimal pandering, maybe throw a crumb or two everyone once in a while but the streams still are like 99% japanese.
For my wife, who had a tiny amount of overseas viewership as an holo she's geting this concern way later than many others, she should be fine with the screen TLs though.
Funny enough, she now uses as much English and ""pandering"" (the circumstances are too different to just call it pandering) in one stream as most Holo JPs in a month.
She does that too that very cute thing of relating some comments by the japanese audience to "complain" about them to the overseas people so we can join the fun too.
