If Ame can get 5 other members, they can probably do some MvM streams. I can see how doing regular TF2 can cause problems since it's a multiplayer game of the older internet days so there's a lot of things that could go wrong if you're streaming. I don't think Ame or Hololive would be enough to revive TF2 since the main issue is the official content drought, but it could probably introduce Japanese viewers to TF2.

I watched Mito streams back in 2018 to practice Japanese listening comprehension. Probably not the best JP streamer to watch for practice given how she rambles sometimes, but I was mostly working on vocabulary at that point anyway.
Although I've never watched Jerma beyond random clips, I've seen comparisons of him to Ame, and I've made little comparisons here and there of Ame to Mito, so I suppose it boils down to "does this person stream beyond simply games and zatsudans".

I think CSGO has been one of the most harmful games to the FPS genre. We went from having fun twitch shooters where you had to juggle powerup timers, map control, movement, and fast reaction times to shift walking and playing like a pussy.
One thing I will say though is that apex is a step in the right direction, even though I don't like watching it. It introduces a lot more complexity and mobility than csgo/valorant but still isn't as overly reliant on abilities as something like overwatch. It's just too bad that I hate the concept of battle royales.

I don't think Ame is a big enough streamer to actually breathe new life into a game like TF2, but at the same time the game isn't anywhere close to being dead. At time of writing it has close to 97k players, and it's the 5th most played game on steam. It's "dead" compared to valve's other multiplayer games but it's still bigger than a lot of games like destiny and warframe which support entire companies.

Counter Strike was massive even before CS:GO and I can't really think of any copies that it's spawned outside of Valorant and some Korean FPS that I can't remember the name of. They're tactical shooters, I don't like them either (I prefer fast paced projectile-heavy games like TF2, Tribes and OW) but they're a subgenre entirely by themselves.

There's also Halo and CoD but those are kinda in their own circles since they're primarily played on >console. Quake has the learning curve of a god damn wall so it's not really surprising that no one really plays it anymore. TF2 always had a disconnect between casual and competitive 6v6 play and when Valve tried to merge the two everyone hated it. Tribes: Ascend was kino but the developers fucking shafted it even harder than Valve shafted TF2.

I think it mostly has to do with Jerma being one of the most popular streamers that a lot of /v/-types enjoy in particular.
The actual most followed and viewed twitch channels, from my perspective, seem to either be people specializing in a handful of massively-popular games, competitive, and a handful of egirls. I hate using the word normie, but most of the personalities aren't particularly interesting outside of their games, while jerma's persona is interesting independent of the games, especially due to his unique and unprecedented streams. This dedication to persona separates him from mainstream streamer, and the sheer absurdity and spectacle tends to remove him from a lot of the drama and axe-grinding that other streamers get.

I think the Most Interesting Man in the World is a good intro to Jerma's content. It's a relaxed chatting stream that goes off the rails. Think that's a good example of a stream having fun with that multiple camera feature, and the way Jerma will push that far beyond.

I remember Nymn, Mizkif, and I think Forsen and XqC have said stuff along those lines. I don’t watch many streamers though. Nymn and Mizkif especially said they wished they were as good as him.

Just my 2 cents, I've been watching Jerma vids since his TF-tuber days.

He is the ONLY entertainer that I have found consistently funny throughout my life since being a young teen to a mid 20s man, everyone else I've ever subbed to and watched regularly hits a point where I just grow out of them, not my funny man Jerma.

Fuck all other twitch streamers though

this is important. A lot just kind of get stuck in a routine, I like the fact that he consistently tries to break the routine
