These kinds of fans are normal to me because I've seen these pics for years, starting with collections of Kaito the vocaloid's fangirl shrines in 2011... I wanted to be like them but not living in Japan means those 5 dollar badges suddenly become 30 dollars. There is a whole culture surrounding this kind of consumerism and for the most part, these girls majority talk to other women online while having a normie lifestyle otherwise. So yes it's for attention, just not male attention, but fellow fan and their oshi's attention. Like meeting up to do itabag photoshoots or ID swaps at cafe collabs. Also these women sometimes skip meals to bid on merch.
